We just found out today that our family was accepted for a scholarship at our local YMCA. We get to use their facility in it's entirety for HALF PRICE! $40/month for the three of us. We're very excited and starting tonight. I cannot WAIT to eat normally again!

How does excercise change your face?? Oh! Do you mean it's thinner? Okay, nevermind, I get it.

I like how we got to see your thought process on that one....yeah, it's thinner. I have a big moon head anyways, with extra weight it's...uh...uglier. I think I see cheekbones...

Wow, David, that's scary! I guess it was the wake up call she needed that it was time to stop. I read that if you make it two years there is a very low chance of relapse. So hopefully she's done with the cigs forever!

Yeah, and she smoked for almost 40 years. I am VERY proud of her that she was able to do that. I'm so glad I never tried them. Not only are they bad for you, but they're expensive as hell!

That is sooooooooo cheap. I got the low income price for the Berkeley Y (which is really nice) a few years back and just me was 30/mo.

You will love it! Don't forget to bring your music, I know I can't work out without it.

I've smoked for about 30 years, as I started when I was a very young teenager. It's so difficult because it's all I've ever known....me as a smoker. I told my 15 year old nephew that I would kick his ass if he ever started smoking. I don't think he will, but still....

Good for you for never trying them! And that's way cool for your mom. It gives me hope.

My mom did the same thing last yeat after having a mini stroke, and she smoked for 60 years! My mother also has emphysemia and COPD, yet it's taken me over a year of watching her suffering before I was ready to quit. Btw, I'm almost at 10 weeks without a cig!!!

Janet, that's amazing! I'm really impressed with by how well you've done, I honestly thought it would take you a few tries before you'd get to this point. You have done so well.

My grandmother quit cold turkey after she had a stroke. This surprised me because she says she wishes she had just died but if that really were so wouldn't she just keep on smoking? She's never been quite right mentally. It's very sad.

She didn't take care of herself and ate a lot of saturated fat (cheese and danish), got no cardiovascular exercise, and smoked. Still it seemed she would be healthy forever. The poor woman was on her floor for nearly a full day after her stroke unable to move after her stroke. She was right next to the end table where the phone was but she could not reach up to get it. She was paralyzed on one side and too confused to act. I'm glad she survived since she was only 68 at the time I think. Even though she's so difficult (understatement) I will be sad when she is gone.

Thanks, but this is definitely not my first attempt at quitting, only the longest. I'm a 20+ year smoker and have tried to quit in the past. Hopefully this is the last time.

For starters, I've been looking for a place to ask this and secondly.... I'm hoping someone will be so kind to indulge me with an answer so I don't have to read back thru all these pages.

HOW did Stevie lose all her vast amount of excess weight??

I've read where she spoke of an eating disorder years ago.
But when FM was at the Clinton party-whatever, she was unrecognizable.
Seems like she lost a whole lot.... gained some back... but is now at a reasonable weight.
