One of the worst triggers, diabolically. I still haven't smoked, though. Also, I drank a glass of wine each weekend evening and wasn't dying of crave-ation, so that's cool.

I've actually found drinking helps me to not smoke. I don't think I'm ready for a bar environment yet, that's too social, but I have a glass of wine every evening when I get home from work and it's made me feel better. I read somewhere that alcohol stimulates the same portion of the brain as nicotine. I don't really know whether or not that's true, but it does make me feel better and I've a couple of friends who quit smoking who said the same thing.

This happens to me too and I haven't smoked for a long time! Okay, that's not entirely true, but I haven't been a regular smoker for 3+ years and I hardly ever smoke. The craving isn't as strong as it once was though, and it passes very quickly.

Poor Mark - I drag him across town on a moment's notice, spend $$$ that we don't really have, make him move the thing into his truck to take home & carry the 200 pound monster downstairs into the basement/rec room. He either really, really loves me, or thinks I'm really, really fat.

The thing's been used 10 times at most, it's gym quality (it actually seems smoother than the ones I've been on at the gym) and probably less than 1/5 the original price! I used it this morning, and wow, what a workout. I feel healthier already.
Score! I'm psyched for you, Paula, that is great. I love the elliptical trainer and am going to the gym soon myself. I wish I had a basement! Apartment living has its perks but then its drawbacks as well, we do not have the space here for extras. Anyway, I get to look at the cuties at the gym so it isn't all bad.

I had a really long, great workout and when I was done, I had such a serious cig craving I thought I would die! That was a big trigger for me...work out really hard and then smoke when I was done. But I fought the temptation.
I haven't exercised since I've quit smoking, but I can *promise* you I will crave a cigarette after my first workout. That was always the FIRST thing I did back in the day.

Well, I'm in the midst of round 2 of the flu and I've dropped a few more pounds because of it. Probably not the healthiest method, but man, its worked like a charm. My stomache is flat again! Yayy!!! Now the trick is tyo maintain and not get back onto the chip and dip wagon once I'm feeling better.

That's my problem; I never get sick. It's all very clear now.

Hope you feel better, Rachel.

How's everyone doing? Since I bought The Beast (yes, I named the elliptical ) I've been on it every day, plus trying to watch what I eat & not be lazy in general. I'm down 2 pounds already.

Congrates on your new elliptical. You should name it a "positive" name, "The Beast" is too negative. Name it something that will make you want to go on it, like, say, "mister feel good" or "hot buns" or "the skinny machine".

My "diet" starts on Monday. It will be one month smoke free for me on Monday and time to start controlling my out-of-control eating from the last month. Tomorrow I am going to buy a treadmill, so I can walk my dogs/lift weights in the mornings before work and run/walk on the treadmill in the evenings after work. And I'll be able to hop on the treadmill when I get a cigarette craving, too. It'll be all good.

Paula, congrats on your current weight loss!

The Beast IS a positive name!

Congrats Paula, that is awesome! How long has it been, a week? That's really good for a week!

Yeah, about a week. I ordinarily wait longer to weigh myself, but I'm off from work for a while after today & won't have access to the good scale. I wanted to have a baseline for when I get back, so I weighed myself & it happened to be less than last week.

Congrats, Paula and Patti!!!!!

I'm still losing, as well. Didn't get to exercise much this past week (besides riding my bike everywhere going to work and doing errands and stuff) but I did my weights at home, and some yoga as well. The rain is putting a bit of a damper on the hiking. The hike would now be a "mudslide" if I did it. Anyway, I still lost another pound. It's getting more incentivefull for me, because my face looks a lot better already and my stomach is pretty flat. My face is the really exciting part. Oh, I buttoned this one pair of my favorite pants today for the first time in forever (I mean and still be able to breathe).
