Default Tom Petty's new book

Not sure if there have been any thread's about this yet but what the hell...

I'm just 100 pages into Conversations With Tom Petty and it's actually quite
well done. There's an awful lot of detail about the whole scene of rock and roll in southern california in the mid 70's and what it takes to become a great band and get a record deal.
Of course the chapters that talk about Fleetwood Mac and Stevie and Jimmy Iovine are particularly interesting.
I highly recommend it for all you music fanatics out there. And anyone (like me) who loved that summer when Bella Donna and Hard Promises came out.

COOL...I didn't know Petty even had a book out. I'll have to pick that bad boy up next time I get paid!

as i get further into the book, i notice that the way Tom Petty speaks is very similar to the way Stevie speaks. Lots of like, you know, kind of, etc.
must be a southern california thing.

You're listening to the book-on-tape?

Neither Tom nor Stevie learned English in Southern CA. By the time both of them moved here, they were young adults.

Is there an index in this book? If I go to the bookstore & start reading it, will I be able to quickly find the Fleetwood Mac parts?

no -
no book on tape.
the entire book is a conversation, almost verbatem.

and unfortunately, it only takes a few years to get the southern california speech mannerisms - native or not.

musically, this book is a fascinating read
