Hey speaking of Crash, if anyone is ever interested in what the Stereophonics sound like, their song Maybe Tomorrow plays at the end of the movie.

My should win/will win....'cuz I'm a bit bored.
Picture: Squid and the Whale (write-in)/Brokeback Mountain Actor: PSH/PSH Actress: Felicity Huffman/Felicity Huffman Sup. Actor: Didn't see Syriana or Cinderella Man, so I don't know Sup. Actress: This is tough, but I choose Amy Adams over Michelle Williams (just barely)/Rachel Weisz Director: Lee/Lee Original Screenplay: Squid and the Whale/Good Night and Good Luck Adapted Screenplay: History of Violence/Brokeback Mountain |

. I think it was overly melò, but the cast worked generally well. Many worse movies got Oscar nominations during the years, and Paul Haggis is anyways a great screenplayer. By the way, I'm very happy because Italy is in the run for The best foreign movie with La bestia nel cuore (in US it will be released with the title "Don't Tell) by Cristina Comencini. It's a beautifully written and acted plot that alternates a tough family drama, with a parallel delicate lesbian love story. It's a movie when it's possible to see a very contemporary Italy and some of the best actors in our Country, like Giovanna Mezzogiorno (who won in Venice for this movie the Volpi cup as best actress), Luigi Lo Cascio, Angela Finocchiaro, Alessio Boni (well, is more cute than good, IMO), Stefano Battiston. So, for your consideration , here's the trailer (in Italian but it presents some of the elements): http://www.cinecitta.com/news/docume...7/labestia.wmv Romy

Like I said in a prior post, I don't personally care which one wins as long as it's not Crash. I will give up on the Academy of MP&S completely if it happens. |

I don't know what all the Crash hating is about. Personally I loved the movie. It doesn't help that I have a crush on Terrence Howard though. Yowza. It IS hard out here for a pimp.

The problem is that it is not Oscar worthy. Oscars need to set the standard for amazing films. If they lower their standard, that leaves room for more and more crap. You know what should have been nominated for Best Picture instead of Crash: Walk The Line or Cinderella Man But it's marketing, folks. Plain and simple. Lion's Gate sent the most screener's out for Crash. It's in your face. It works. |

Besides, to be honest, I thought that Joaquin's performance in WTL was too effeminant for Johnny. But that's a whole other thread. Thoughts?
