Default Super Bowl 40: Steelers VS Seahawks

Well, it'a set. Sorry Chili that your Broncos couldnt pull it off, but I'm afraid the old Jake Plummer of Arizona Cardinals fame showed up yesterday. So what do us football fans make of this matchup? Well, god knows we're going to have 1001 Jerome Bettis going home stories. Not that that's a bad thing, but maybe limit it to about 500. I'll tell you allone thing, I'm getting tired of people talking about Pittsburgh being the first #6 seed to make it to the Super Bowl. This is a damn good team that was 15-1 last year, and 11-5 this season and finished 6th only because the AFC had a lot of good teams in it. It's not like they were 8-8 and came from nowhere. The you have Seattle, who throughly dominated Carolina and I'm not surprised at that one bit. Here's why: Carolina had one superstar player in Steve Smith, and a good(Not great) quarterback in Jake Delhomme. Their running back situation was in dire straits with DeShaun Foster getting hurt in the last game, and Nick Goings out of the title game in the first quarter. That allowed Seattle to double, triple, even sometimes quadruple team Smith, and when Delhomme couldnt get the ball to him, well stick a fork in the Panthers. Shaun Alexander again proved why he's the best running back in football coming back from his injury last week to rush for 132 yards and a touchdown. So there we have it; what I view as a great matchup for the big game. Pittsburgh has been installed as a 3 1/2 point favorite, and I would concur with that. My prediction for Super Bowl 40: Steelers 28, Seawhawks 24. I know I'm going agasint my original pick at the beginning of the playoffs, but what the Steelers have done, beating the #1,2, and 3 seeds all on the road, well that's enough for me. One for the thumb Pittsburgh!!

Exclamation Either...

a close score:
Steelers 30 Seahawks 27

Or a complete blowout:
Steelers 35 Seahawks 7

Either way I have to go with the "Terrible Towel" crowd.

Brian "Let's see...The Steelers had Terry "Cant spell C-A-T without being given the letter "K" & the letter "T"" Bradshaw" & the Seahawks had Steve "I'm going to be the next governor of Oklahoma...Oops, Guess not!" Largent" j.

I'm actually pretty excited about the Bowl this year. Kind of cool to see 2 different teams (and by "different", I mean NOT Dallas, San Fran, Denver, Pats) in it this year. I don't know who I want to root for - Steelers are AFC, same as Bills so I guess they're my "home team." But Seattle's never been in (if I heard correctly) and it's cool they finally are.

Yeah, I heard Mr Largent had quite the conservative ideology.

I know. It's really nice to see some new blood in there. I would certainly hope that the trend of good close Super Bowl scores would continue. I can remember back in the 80's and 90's when it seemed like every year the game would be over before the first quarter ended.

Maybe if Seattle wins they can buy themselves some new uniforms. The current ones are ugly.

I think the uniforms are new... within the last year or two. They got new uniforms to go with their new stadium.

I'm going to pick the Seahawks to win. I don't know why.

Default Steelers Wil Win

I am going to say that the Steelers will win the super bowl. It would be awesome for Jerome and Cowher along with the rest of the team. I live in Pittsburgh and spent last night hanging out in the southside and it was amazing how excited everybody was here about the win. People were going nuts and they had to close off the streets. It was the most exciting thing I have ever seen and we really need one for the thumb.

My prediction: Steelers 31 - Seahawks 21

I did predict Redskins-Steelers and I guess I got one right. Bill Cowher's the best coach ever.

Ya, I'm pretty excited about it too because of new blood,at least for the last few years. I am for the Steelers all the way, since they beat my beloved Colts. I wouldn't want anyone but them to win it.

I've never watched a SuperBowl in my life and probably won't this year. It's all rigged and it pisses me off that I work my ass off for $25/hr and they can "play" football one day a week for millions. Ridiculous.

If it makes you feel better, I only average about $17/hr.
