Which of the Five Rumours-Era albums has dated the best?

I'm actually surprised that so many people have chosen Rumours, though maybe others are thinking about this question a little differently than I am. But Rumours to me just sounds very 70s to me. This isn't a bad thing, but the album is very much "dated" in the sense that it's very obvious when it was recorded and released. If a band today released Rumours, there would much talk about its "70s California sound." Tusk, on the other hand - if some group released Tusk today, I think most music reviewers would have a very tough time categorizing it in such a way.

There are only 7 albums with the Rumours line-up. Say You Will did NOT have the Rumours line-up.

Come ON people...Say You Will is NOT a Rumours-era album!! And, don't give me the excuse that "well, only Chris is missing", either. Behind The Mask was only missing Lindsey and nobody will fess to THAT being a Rumours era album.

On the other hand, the people who are strictly fans of the "Rumours" era, if we're being honest, are typically just fans of Fleetwood Mac with Stevie and Lindsey in it. There are basically five types of Fleetwood Mac fans.

1. Stevie and Lindsey HAVE to be in it ("Rumours" only fans)
2. Peter Green has to be in the band.
3. Everything up to "Tango In The Night" (But then, they seemingly went to hell)
4. Everything up to "Heroes Are Hard To Find" (Stevie killed Fleetwood Mac)
5. It's all good.

But, unlike BTM, the band didn't actually add another member (i.e. Billy Burnette) on SYW. People didn't have to get used to X not being in the band anymore AND Y replacing X.

Oh, of course it is. Just as "Long Grey Mare" counts as a "first generation" Fleetwood Mac song, even though John's not on it.

No, Behind the Mask is "missing" Lindsey and adding two other guitarists/singers/songwriters in his place.

But regardless, my implied point still stands, that a person interested in the Rumours line-up of the band is very likely to be interested in the Say You Will album, as it features 80% of that band, and no one else.

If one is to follow the logic of Messrs D and MacD, then I believe you would be considered a "Christine McVie fan," but not a "Fleetwood Mac fan."

Nope. I would put such a fan in the "it's all good" category. If you consider that Christine was on all but three Fleetwood Mac albums ("Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac," "Blue Jam At Chess/In Chicago," and "Live In Boston"), then "it's all good." Christine's playing on "Mr. Wonderful" is probably some of her best...EVER!

That is exactly how I feel. I LOVE the Mr. Wonderful album...especially for Chris' great blues playing! Blues piano is where Christine has always sparkled...too bad she has never had too many opportunities to show this.
