I received a mixed Mac DVD from a friend on Livejournal, and she included the ‘84 concert. The other stuff on there isn’t too shabby, either (Largo ‘75, Tusk doc, Mirage show, etc), but I was really quite disappointed with the Chris concert. As much as I love her, and know how she is on stage (reserved, behind the piano all the time, etc), I expected her to be a little more assertive. Being her own show, and all. I have to wonder how she dealt with doing those concerts for that tour? I remember her saying she had a hard time just finishing one of her sets from her Christine Perfect days. And there isn’t really anyone else on stage to take the focus away from her, unless you want to watch her geee-tarists, or Mick when he shows up with that African drum for World Turning. Which is actually a song I think should’ve been left out of her solo tour, along with Don’t Stop... they just didn’t sound right to me, being sung with her by someone other than Lindsey.
But her outfit is cute, I’ll give her that, and she sounds wonderful. Anyway. Other than that, I’m loving everything else! She’s absolutely adorable--if a little tipsy-- during the Tusk doc. I especially love the little Never Make Me Cry segment, with her on the boat. Getting to see the Largo ‘75 and Rosebud in full, finally, was nice. Just thought I'd share that with my fellow McVie enthusiasts. ![]() |

I've heard her solo tour version of Hold Me. I didn't like it... wrong harmonies/parts, as I recall.
I'll have to look for more of those songs. I can't remember why I don't have more of them.

Mick only appeared at the one show that was videoed in Dec 1983 for the companion video to the album. Once her tour started in earnest, "World Turning" was NOT included in the set (nor was Billy Burnette a member of the touring band...Stephen Bruton handled the second guitar part on the tour)

I love the Tusk documentary - especially the part where where she says that if Lindsey wants to do something in a certain way and it's on one of her songs she'll respect his opinion then there's a slight pause and she says "even if he's wrong"
she'd definately had a couple of lemonades as I recall! Gail Last edited by Gailh; 01-18-2006 at 04:33 AM.. |

If you're looking for Christine to be more assertive on stage, you'll be looking a long time. It's just not in her personality, which is fine by me. I actually prefer performers who are more low key. The others usually turn me off anyway. I have a few late 80's interviews where she said she never wanted to tour solo ever again. I think that little 2 month tour that she did was more than enough for her. I even have interviews from back in her Christine Perfect days where she said that recording was the "fun" part of the music business for her. I think touring & playing live was just part of the job for her...something that she had to do.By the way, she had to do "Don't Stop". It was her biggest hit single & it is HER song afterall. ![]() Last edited by macfan 57; 01-18-2006 at 05:55 AM.. |

i love the bit where she throws a drink in micks face! - if slightly surprised! she was probably annoyed afterwards when she realised her drink was gone! - sweet when stevie cracks up too! so many good moments on that! i have to watch it again! i love how much of chris there is too! the cameraman must have liked her! ![]() |

Boy is she EVER tipsy on that boat during the Tusk doc. Did you see her playing with her beer, running her fingers throught it, then licking them? Hilarious. But, even buzzed, she said some interesting things aboout the band and demonstrated a wonderful, healthy perspective. |

I think we've all gone over the Christine-on-stage thing though, have we not? Actually, one of the biggest probems lies in the way it was filmed, IMO. I think it could've been shot a little bit better. Too many side angles for my taste. I want front view closeups! I did enjoy the music videos, though-- You know how much I love Love Will Show Us How. ![]() |

She was clearly tipsy, but she can hold her liquor. I did like what she had to say about everything. |
