One thing I noticed while watching the Globes is how the desire to look perfect has hit a ridiculous level. Outside of Emma Thompson and maybe a couple of others, those all could have been the same woman in that room.

Someone mentioned Ryan Philippe--I think he is still totally hot, just looking a little older and like he drinks a few too many these days. Much sexier than his wife, who looks exactly the same no matter what she's doing.

As for Mariah, she just looked like she's into some serious benzos these days.

I didn't see the Dennis Quaid intro to BB Mountain, thankfully. I can only hope that it wasn't part of the written script. Although it wouldn't surprise me; Hollywood likes to think it's all liberal and open-minded but quite often shows its true colors. There wasn't much more than a smattering of applause after Felicity's quote about honoring people who struggle to live as who they are.

Nearly everyone was a stick as far as the women go. What I find more troubling than anything else is the fact that most of these people seem to think they look good, and the ones who looked the best last night were the ones who looked like real women and not malnourished fetuses. Virginia Madsen, Geena Davis, Emma Thompson, Felicity Huffman, Camryn Manheim, etc.

Just look at the "controversy" that Hollywood has created over Brokeback Mountain. There's no real controversy other than one theater owner refusing to show it, but it makes for good copy and makes the Hollywood crowd look admirable and progressive for pushing the movie. It's absurd.
