I have to wait to actually do this though because my 1k is now going to an unexpected trip to Kenya. My friends decided to go there and have a wedding. They're already married here but her family is there and they want to have a wedding there. I guess that leaves time for some research!

I was thinking about perhaps creating a really nice invitation for Stevie to do this gig. Something that could convey how much we will appreciate it and how special we will make her feel. What do y'all think of that idea?
I llike it. SOunds like you're cookin up some good stuff.

Thanks. What I had in mind was for y'all to add suggestions for the invitation if you have them.

I think that maybe you should send a nice, but small gift hamper with the invitation so that Stevie can see you really have put a lot of time and effort into it!

You could put some nice creams, soaps and maybe a candle into it!

I think it's an excellent idea to create a nice invitation directly to Stevie about this performance. Otherwise the request might not ever get past this corporate events company because they won't take us seriously.

I would do a friendly, yet somewhat formal, letter of invitation that states clearly what is being asked and that it would be a special event for some of her most "diehard" fans (use her terms). And not make it too gushy, or she might freak out.

I think what her management would want to know from the invitation is that (1) we are serious, (2) we are aware how much it costs, and (3) we will provide whatever necessary to ensure Stevie's protection and comfort.

Well said RICKY!!

Though we would also need to ensure that we for certain have the money, that we can get most of the money in a hurry as they will most likely want a big deposit.. And that i start saving for flights and accom!!

It would be such a dream come true for me. I learned long ago not to get my hopes up so high for things, so I'll just stay at cautiously optimistic for now.

Yeah, I hear that. It angers me that the only difference between the yahoo throwing that Bat Mitzvah and me are millions of dollars. That somehow makes him more credible? I don't even get the courtesy of a reply? Whatever.

Suze! My friend who works at the Exhibition Center sent this to me this morning. She should've told me earlier. Not that I can drop all that cash.

Got an extra grand stashed somewhere?

One extra? I've probly got a few... okay not really. I can't open that site, my browser hangs, I'm on dial-up. I'll be moving to cable very soon though I think.

Blondie is doing a Big Brothers of the Bay Area fundraiser at the Exhibition Center next Saturday and the lowest priced tix are $1,000. I can't go, but I know people who went to last year's fundraiser and they said it was fantastic.

Congrats on cable! Dial-up is the devil.

Dammit. I was just thinking earlier today that I HAVE to see Blondie next, they're on my radar. I don't know how I've not seen them yet! By the way, doesn't Debbie look like she really likes the naughty chair?

Damn you're lucky!!! That lady is never over here, I swear.
I'd rather pay $1000 for Stevie, but still. You're totally going, right? Do you already have your tick?

I haven't been around for a few days, and I didn't read this whole thread, but just wanted to add my two cents worth (sorry if it has been addressed). I think Stevie's fee may be 150K -ish, but dont forget her 'people' always go with her, and I am sure travel and accommodations that they would be used to would tack on several tens of thousands. This outfit doesn't respond to emails, but also want a date and type of event and location before they will give a for sure dollar amount. Maybe to run past her for approval??

Oooh! Ooooh! OOOOH! I'll sell all my copies of National Geographic! That'll help!

Seriously, hire a drag queen, have her sing along to the "Best of Stevie Nicks" karaoke disc, and spin around a few times. It will do the trick. And for a hell of a lot less money.

And the setlist is guaranteed to be more inspired.
