Smart people name their kids Destiny and Trinity??? I take it the bar for what qualifies as intelligence has been significantly lowered.

If other people like it, more power to them. But I wouldn't name my kid something that sounds like it's reserved for a housecat.

No, it hasn't. I guess they don't feel like they have to use the same names that have been used throughout time, forever, etc., judgemental grandpa man. You puritans in Mass can keep naming your kids john and mike and emily and patrick and kristen and ....

Trinity and Destiny are dumb names for housecats... I would never name my cat something that sounds like it's reserved for a person!
Which reminds me, I knew a girl named Phoenix that was really smart, too. I like that name...

Nor do I. Still doesn't mean I'd inflict such pain upon my child by putting Destiny or Trinity on their birth certificate. They don't sound like good names to me, they sound like superheroes.

But seriously, I can't believe how judgemental of names you (and some others) are. I'll leave it at that, I guess, since in this case you are using your opinion about some names to support the basis that they are whoreanus. I can't argue much with your opinion. I mean, I don't like the name Katie, but I wouldn't judge it as being wrong, whoreanus, an affront to humanity, and conclude that anyone who would name their kid that is a moron. I also wouldn't assume "Katie" would have certain personality traits because her name is Katie(such as being a stripper). But hey, that's just me.

That is true. But new names are good, too, IMO. I think it's great we get to have new names after the same ol' ones we've been using for centuries. It looks like it will take time for people to get used to them, though. Not that all new names are good. Trinity and Destiny aren't my favorites...

Partly b/c I like James Mason, but still, it's a nice name.
When y'all are like "oh, those poor kids" apparently you don't realize that all their friends and the people in their schools will have those names, too.
My friend (with kids) knows like, 5 Sierras, 40 Camerons, etc. etc.

Really? Memphis & Parks are going to have classmates with those names?

I know what you're saying, I guess I'm just tired of people coming up with names that seem really trendy/soap opera-ey/yuppie chic. More old fashioned names float my boat, that's all. Classier.

And Brit - I quite like Mason myself. As long as you don't name him Mason Dixon or anything like that.

Yeah, lots of people think old fashioned things are classier. I can't figure out why, I guess because we are used to them, and they are old, ie classic, ie classier? Anyway, I think a lot of it is familiarity. And if no one ever came up with "new, trendy" names, people would still be named "Thuk" and "Oog" and "Muk-Muk".
