He's not the manager anymore. Everybody else got greedy, at least as far as the band was concerned (don't know how Bob Welch felt). The point is that those six experienced their greatest success when he was managing the band. Of course, I DO have to point out that Stevie had continued success when she sold her soul to the Devil (better known as Irving Azoff) and had a lot of success as a solo artist.

The thing I really like most about Mick from the days when he was managing Fleetwood Mac was that he avoided about 90 percent of the cheesiest, sleeziest, crassest kinds of saturation marketing: there were no Fleetwood Mac action figures, board games, lunch boxes or bathroom soap on store shelves, & the band didn't perform at mall, cineplex, amusement park or bank openings. Fleetwood Mac actually had class -- at least for a megamillion-seller band. Obviously, I'm not going to compare them to the Sex Pistols or the Damned in terms of crass marketing, but among the top-selling mainstream bands of the time, Fleetwood Mac genuinely stood apart, not just for their music but for their relative integrity.

Of course, much of that has gone to **** in a handbasket at this point, at least if you're looking at Mick's activities ....

The guy who made those actually wrote us recently....I think when Judy Wong passed away; his name is Robert Karr. The whole thing started when he made the wood carving of John w/ the penguin staring up at him, and sent it to him at the band's office. A few weeks later, John called him and invited him to the offices, where he met Judy Wong and became chummy w/ FM, went to a couple parties, and went on to make many wood carvings of all of them-- I think he said he did 5 complete sets. They were really so adorable.

Anyway, just wanted to add that.

Thanks Lis! I actually had wanted to start a thread to find out if anyone knew more information about the dolls, but I wanted to search the archives first, and then David's mentioned action figures...

I too especially like the bottle on the piano, and then there is a little clear bottle on the ground as well.

I can't agree that Fleetwood Mac stood alone in not engaging in tacky,saturation marketing. The band that parlleled Fleetwood Mac the most ,commercially and demographically at this time did have Satan incarnate managing them and they didn't go in for this kind of marketing either .I never saw a Hotel California lunch box in Junior High school or Long Run toilet paper either.
