Default Mariah Carey notches her 17th No. 1 hit

Mariah Carey notches her 17th No. 1 hit

NEW YORK, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- With her hit "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah Carey tied Elvis Presley by chalking up her 17th No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Carey and Presley have the second highest amount of No. 1 singles in the rock era and Carey is the only artist to twice lead the Hot 100 in 2005, Billboard said.

Chris Brown's "Run It!" fell to No. 2 after five weeks at the top of the Hot 100 but remained atop the Pop 100 chart, where Carey sat at No. 2.

Nelly's "Grillz" featuring Paul Wall, Ali and Gipp was No. 3 on the Hot 100, D4L's "Laffy Taffy" was No. 4, the Pussycat Dolls' "Stickwitu" held the No. 5 slot and Nickleback's "Photograph" dropped one spot from last week to No. 6.

No. 7 on the Hot 100 was Kanye West's "Gold Digger" featuring Jamie Foxx and Beyonce's "Check on It" featuring Slim Thug leaped from No. 18 to No. 8 this week.

The Top 10 was rounded out by Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You" at No. 9 and Juelz Santana's "There It Go! (The Whistle Song)" at No. 10.

Wow, and I thought she'd become irrelevant. Who'd have thunk it?

Well, I have to say that I am a huge Mariah fan...so I have kept up with her for years...and I have been one of the crazy fans out there trying to do anything I can to help get DFAU to become her 17th number 1!!!

That's cool. She's a great talent. She just lacks class but still is way classier than the younger hos out there.

I bought Bo Bice's debut CD right when it came out. Debuted at #4!

Exclamation Not a fan...

but it is good to see that staying power in music MAY be coming back (The whole 2-3 year time-frame for a musical entity has grown passe')...So congrats for Mariah for another #1 (Looked at the list of Top 10 music and I am so glad I dont "get" that type of music...)

I've never been a fan of hers, she bugs me. But I'm really liking the stuff I've heard from Emancipation... Good for her.

That's quite an accomplishment.. When did she start out - in 1990? That's only 15 years, but I guess in todays music industry that's 2 or 3 lifetimes!

I liked her in the beginning.. then kind of didn't like her as she sort of transitioned into a more hip hop sound.. but now I'm used to it I guess and I quite like what I hear especially on this last album, it's pretty good...

Congratulations to her. I've never been a fan, but she came out brilliantly from a dark period, a proof of personality to me.

good for her!! I am happy for her. She has an amazing voice. The high notes she can get to amaze me. I mean the real high notes, almost shriek like, like in her song Emotions.

Can't abide by the woman but I guess compared ot the likes of Britney and the Simpson sisters she does have talent.

i'm not pleased with mariah competing with elvis' no. of hit singles, in a better world she'd be competing him in corpses decomposition.
