I myself enjoy fanfic. I stumbled on a WONDERFUL story doing a search for info on Lindsey. Ive been happily reading fanfic ever since. Mari, I also have a HUGE collection of Star Trek novels. they actually fill in a lot of gaps that the series left open. Particularly the first Vulcan/Human contact, the development of the warp drive (and the fate of Zephram Cochrane) the first starship, and Captain Kirk's young life (I also have one whose main character is Kirk's father). For me, it fleshes out that particular Universe, puts some meat on the bare bones that exist from the TV shows. I like the stories about Spock's native planet....hell! I just like them all! They arent literary masterpieces by any means, but they are familiar, and comfortable and they keep my favorite TV show characters alive ![]() |

It was in interviews from around 1988 to the early '90s, that I thought she seemed rather humourless and way too serious about herself. ![]() As for my own situation, I've always been able to laugh at myself (the King of Self-Deprecation), but during the years that I would consider the "low-point" in my life, I had no sense of humour -- most especially in regards to myself. That only came back once I started to come back.

She did look a lot like Madonna, though, especially the eyebrows and a little gap in the teeth.

Of course there's variance in quality and content. You will find poor writers and disturbing subject matter in ANY genre. It's very easy to grab the worst stories and most egregious examples and dismiss everything else along with it, but it's not very fair.
And Vicky, you're right. The majority of Fleetwood Mac fanfic is, again, the romance novel type. Is this wrong? I don't believe so. People write about what they want to write about. Just because I want to read about one thing doesn't mean I'm going to disparage those who write about something else. If I don't like what I'm seeing I'll write something of my own (if only I still had the time!) Last edited by sodascouts; 12-23-2005 at 12:14 PM.. |

There were some well written tales (yours for example), but it's just that they seemed few and far between. Some stories were so poorly written that I never got past the first paragraph or two. Writing is my passion and is one of the few things I'm pretty good at, so it really annoys me when I'm trying to struggle through typos, spelling errors, poor grammar, and cliched or bland descriptions. |
