I didn't realize this is what you do for a living -- my hat is off to you. As someone with a panic/anxiety disorder and an acute tendency towards agoraphobia, I realize it must be as difficult for those who try to help people who have this disorder, as it is for the people who actually have it.

I also give you credit for trying to stick up for Markolas and being concerned about his feelings, though I'm certain Sparky didn't have any ill intent with this particular comment. I imagine you're just more sensitive to the issue of mental illness than the average person, and I find it respectable when someone shows some empathy and consideration and tries to stick up for those who can't always stick up for themselves.

That would be a great loss, for you not to see it. It isn't all tragedy. And it is by no means Tragic Gay. The only reason it is so heartbreaking is that it is such a great love story. I suspect you have seen some or much of the trash the indie film industry has generated and called "gay movies". This is not one of those movies. It is great film making first and foremost, and I think you would be doing yourself a great disservice in missing it. Not everyone is going to reduced to a sobbing wreck like I was. I think you are a very sensitive and perceptive guy and it might move you in ways you wouldn't expect.

It doesn't sound stupid at all.

Next month I'll have some money (depleted by holiday gifts/shipping) and I really hope to see this on the big screen then. I may just lie to my parents about what I see.

If I could, I would take you to see it myself. Failing that, it is easy enough to hop theatres or just not take the stub home. You'll find a way to see it.

(Incidentally, I have issues involving panic/anxiety and agoraphobia; I am glad to say that I have gone forth more than ever seemed possible with regards to it. To anyone reading, progress is slow and scary but it is possible.)

I am quite certain that you will be fine, and that as you get older and your life becomes more your own you will find a way to move beyond that.

thank you for that I'll publicly apologise to Sparky if I misunderstood his comment, if in fact he WAS joking. It wasnt apparent to me but I know its very easy to misinterpret the written word.
