Diss, I know that's not what you meant by your post, but on first read, it was incredibly insensitive to anyone who's been seriously ill. It reminds of of the kind of insensitivity I saw once when a bunch of my friends and I were forced to do an incredibly huge amount of walking (labour dispute, picket line, blah blah), and someone asked my friend who's in a wheel chair, "hey.. *nudge nudge* how could I get me one of those?" Her reply? "Get in a car accident and break your back."

You see my point?

Actually, I know several people who've had nice, long conversations with Stevie.

Guess it just depends on the situation (or sometimes maybe even the person).

Anyway, she had a FIT and sent hotel employees running out for this stuff (bumpers- that's what it's called!). So someone went out and got her some for the crib, but she didn't like the pattern, so they had to go back out and get what she wanted, at the hotel's expense. We had to get her all kinds of special foods, she wouldn't let anyone clean her room while she was staying, so when the housekeepers went in at the end of her stay it was trashed. She was unfriendly to all the staff and she was just basically extremely demanding and unattractive. I had seen her once before when I went to the ILive With Regis and Kathy Lee show with some friends when I lived in NY and she was nasty then. As soon as they went to commercial, she became surly and quiet. She's heinous looking too. She's so thin that she looks emaciated. Nasty person.

THat was at the hotel in Cleveland as they were on their way to soundcheck. He came over to sign autographs for the fans, and my friend who was with me was practically ****ting herself, cause she's a drummer and idolizes Mick. SO right as he's done signing, I knew my friend wouldnt have the balls to ask, so I said "Excuse me Mr. Fleetwood, would my friend get a picture with you?" My friend gave me this look that I can only describe as pure astonishment. Mick said sure, so my friend went over and I took one of her with him, then I asked if I could have one too, my friend took that one. Before he left, I thanked him for working so hard to keep Fleetwood Mac together all these years, and that I would never had a chance to see them live if he hadnt. He seemed touched by my comment and said "Thank you very much. That means alot to me." Then he went on his marry way.

I know. I wanted to look like I belonged there, so I figured a NYT would look more important than a local paper.

I know a few people that have had not so nice experiences with Stevie and security.
Right. And as soon as they asked I left immideatly. The hotel staff wasnt rude to me at all, in fact the lady at the front desk that took Lindsey and mine's picture told me I handled myself very well.

Wow I didn't know that. That's good to hear. I've only ever heard about the bad stuff (that's typical ).

Your Mick story is very interesting also. So I guess hotel's are the place to be when they're in town!

Yeah, often the "bad stuff" gets talked about the most, because it's the juiciest. Thankfully though, it seems that the majority of people have had positive experiences with Stevie. And even though it is rare for her to spend an extended period of time talking with a fan, she has done it (even as recently as the 'Say You Will' Tour), and is typically warm and cordial even when she can't. But I'm sure she gets tired and crabby like the rest of us, and that's why some fans have been left cold by their interaction with her.

Overall, I imagine she's also the most guarded of the band members (both personally and by her security), because she's had so many run-ins with crazed fans and stalkers.
I don't recall ever hearing that Lindsey has had a stalker, so he's probably a little less cautious.

I never really tried that hard to meet Stevie, because I just figured that there was no way really to get that close short of a complete stroke of luck. Incidentally, that day I met Mick when they were going to soundcheck, stevie came out of the hotel comepletely surrounded by her people.

All night I was trying to think of something that isn't necessarily a compliment to say to him. The only thing I could think of was "Thanks for introducing me to the blues," explaining "Fleetwood Mac In Chicago" was my first blues album. He basically said that really he didn't give a **** what my first blues album was. What made the moment classic was the "what an idiot" look Nigel Watson gave me. Good stuff!
