Stevie loves loves a mystery!!! I think she even loves the speculation (if she knows about it) If she was/is in a relationship she ain't gonna spill it, especially if its someone with any name recognition, at least not until its long over.

Personally, I think she positively GLOWED..(although she became more sedate later when her dad was very ill) during the GD tour and was gettin hers I have no idea who she is/was knockin boots with but who cares.

As far as the "last year" comment we all know Stevie and time refrences that could mean a decade ago or last week.

All I know is I want La Nicks to be happy if that means a man or a new coat I couldn't care less.

Okay, this, I find more than a little creepy... bordering on sick. People get put into psychiatric hospitals for this kind of stuff. I wonder if there are any photos of Stevie carrying around the dolls, or whether it's just rumours. You know, she could have bought a doll somewhere (since we do know she collects them) and was carrying it with her instead of packing it away, and someone started a crazy rumour. I'm not saying you're lying Kelly; I'm just wondering where this story came from. It, frankly, makes Stevie sound like she's completely nuts and disillusional.

Well, I think many celeb interviewers aren't that original, and they do tend to ask the same questions. This one's a no-brainer: "You're 57 years old now. When you look back on your life, is there anything you'd do differently?" Or - "You're 57 years old now. You've had an incredibly successful life - but - you never got married and had children. Do you regret this?" This, my friends, is simply a lazy way to try to elicit emotion from the interview subject. So yes, I do believe that she is getting the same lame question all the time.

As for Stevie herself, about how can she go from crying over regrets about not having kids to being satisfied with a dog? She has probably simply accepted reality. Nothing says she won't always wonder what it might have been like - she probably also does realize she never would have had the rock star life she did. Life is about choices. She made hers. Her dog is not a substitution for a child, but she loves her, and she's happy and content as she approaches 60. I know it IS rare, and seems outrageous to some, but not ALL women want or have children. It's a societal assumption that something is "wrong" with a woman who doesn't have kids. Sad, really. Still today, women's success is often measured not by what they've done with their lives and careers, but by whether they've gotten married and had children.

I don't have it to hand but there is a picture of Stevie carrying a doll ... it was in a UK newspaper and it shows her with the doll at the airport. The write up with it said that it was too precious to be packed and she carried it on the plane so it wouldn't get damaged.

She has probably simply accepted reality. .

There are plenty of photos floating around of Stevie
carrying dolls around with her during the early 80s.
buckinghamnicks.net is probably the best place to look
although there's so many photos that it may take a while
to find. I'll try to post one later.

Stevie herself has flat-out admitted that she went a
little crazy - literally - during that time. (This was after
Robin's death.) So maybe she kinda "regressed" a little
bit as part of the healing process.

And b.t.w. I got absolutely, abominally slammed on
this board for showing even the slightest concern about
Stevie's mental state after her father, who she just
absolutely worshipped and adored, died. In my opinion,
people need to "take some time to know the REAL story -
'cause a soul that's true is your path to glory."

So, yes, as Stevie has admitted publicly, she went a
little nuts for a while. But she's "feeling much better
now."

By the way though, I've heard that celebrities do
"pre-interviews" where they talk about (or list on paper)
what they would like to talk about, and what is off-limits,
etc. So the "never having babies" thing is probably part
of her "list." I've seen celebrities do an interview on Leno
and then the next day be on another talk show and do the
same damn interview!

Stevie definitely went through a period when she regreted not having a child, but those were the klonopin years and she was having a lot of other problems then as well. I think when her head cleared she probably realised she sacrificed having children for a reason IMO

Pip, do you know if there's anywhere in the UK we can get this mag? I desperately want those pictures!

About the relationship I still find her more reliable than fans' speculations on it. If she said she was with someone one year ago, why shouldn't it be believable? And plenty of famous people are able to hide their relationships when, as someone else have already said, the other person isn't famous. Luckily fans can't know everything.

On the desire to be a mother it's quite common for famous women not to have children, because as she said she should have had to stop, for a couple of years at least, and especially twenty years ago, it wasn't the easiest choice, it always needs, even today, some courage. It's even harder when you're at the top of your success, people around you say you can't and you're having problems with addictions. Then the moment passes, and these women usually regret it. IMO, when someone like Stevie who loves children, decided (at the end it was her decision) not to have them, the simplest thing is to rationalize the choice, as she does in interviews.

To relate this to her passion for dolls sounds creepy to me too. You can love them without thinking of them as your children, I think.

Romy

I agree with my friend Romy. Who the hell could possibly know whom Stevie's dating & when if she's keeping it private & the press isn't in on it? You'd know only if you had a close connection to Stevie -- family or friends.

All the guys Stevie has dated are know to us, the fans, because either Stevie reported it or the press reported & photographed it. Otherwise, only her friends & family & co-workers possibly would know -- in other words, people who see her & talk to her on a daily basis.

As for the doll thing, I don't think it's any more creepy than anyone's obsession with collecting thing, albeit guitars, purses or Stevie memorabilia. I think the dolls are just a collection rather than subsitute children.
Right - I think you might have misunderstood the point I was making. Carrying around dolls pretending they're children = creepy. Carrying around dolls because you collect them and are transporting a fragile one home instead of putting it in cargo = perfectly normal.

Thanks, Pip. That's exactly what I thought the situation must have been.

As far as Stevie addressing the topic of not having children, I believe it's because she's admitted previously to both having an abortion and regretting not having kids. But since then, she's made peace with her past decisions and wants to emphasize that she made the right choice.

As far as carrying around dolls and possibly pretending they're her babies, they're her's, she bought them, she can breast feed them for all I care.

But damn those pics are gorgeous!!! God I love the pic on the bed with the white outfit and the black boots! I love this woman!
