Talking South Park & Scientology...

Oh man, that new South Park episode was 'sweet'.

"We have news Tom...Tom Cruise, John Travolta & R.Kelly have all 'come out of the closet' ".

Yes it WAS!!! And, Brian- you beat me to the punch on starting a thread on this. Last night after watching, I was thinking- "Man, I oughta go post something about this..." Alas, as an old grampa, I needed my rest.

The episode was awesome. Stan rated an OT9 on his first E-meter read, so the church thought he was the reincarnation of L. Ron Hubbard. All the scientologist celebrities flocked to Stan's house. Tom Cruise broke into Stan's bedroom and attempted worship, but Stan rebuffed him saying that Leo DeCaprio was a much better actor than Tom and that Tom was an "okay" actor. Tom was so distraught that he ran into Stan's closet and wouldn't come out. The rest of the episode was peppered with talking heads, Stan's parents and other celebrities (Nicole Kidman) pleading with Tom to "come out of the closet". Finally, John Travolta manages to plead his way into the closet with Tom and realizes how comfortable it is in there. Then the pleas were upgraded for both Tom and John to "come out of the closet".

It was great. They slammed scientology so hard that at the end Stan was being threatened by the scientologists that they were going to sue him for claiming that scientology was a big scam and he just kept saying over and over again- "fine, sue me- go ahead, sue me". And that was the closer. They immediately cut to the credits and every single credit (director, producer, writer, assistant, music by, etc.) was listed as either "John Smith" or "Jane Smith".

As Cartman would say, "Totally awesome."

I betcha the (Scam) Church of (Gimme yer $$$) Scientology is pissed this day and will whine (Like Tom Cruise in the closet) about how South Park smeared 'em...And yes I loved every second of this episode, Anytime a mock religious CULT gets slammed I feel happy (C'mon, does anyone expect to believe a supposed "Church" based on science-fiction author? Oh wait, Those Star Trek/Star Wars nerds believe everything in their respected universes to be "Fact")

Dudes, It is called "Freedom of Speech"

Brian "Respect my authoritaaaaa" j.

This is a South Park News break: "Tom Cruise will NOT come out of the closet."

I enjoyed it. Especially the section in the middle where they were explaining the Thetans, with "THIS IS WHAT SCIENTOLOGISTS ACTUALLY BELIEVE" splashed across the screen. Even though it wasn't funny at all - pretty creepy, actually.

I also just caught last week's Ginger Kid episode on a replay the other day. Oh, man.

That part was great- just for whole creepy unbelievability of it all.

I liked that episode, too- although the premise of altering Cartman was a little to difficult to swallow...

Your "Hejira" quote is awesome.

"I know - no one's going to show me everything
We all come and go unknown
Each so deep and superficial
Between the forceps and the stone

I knew you'd get it. It works for me at this moment, though I did consider the one you posted. Of course I could change it every week and not run out of good ones.

Up in a sterilized room
Where they let you be lazy
Knowing your attitude's all wrong
And you got to change
And that's not easy
