this is like violet's gum in CCF
gross to imagine what it must really be like.

I've heard about this, and people who have tried it swear by it...it doesn't have to be beer, either...you sit the whole chicken on the can of beer, so it's upright...all the fat would drip off, tho, so it might just be crazy enough to work!

Marinating chicken in coke IS good- I always use diet coke, though. If you guys think that sounds disgusting, what's your stance on black bean brownies?
Hmm, I'm willing to try them out..
Oh, I never said I thought the cokechicken was disgusting, it's just something I've never heard of, it sounded weird to me. But I think I'm going to try it

But you Americans probably will find some Dutch dishes disgusting.
Like raw herring with onions? Mmmmm..

When I first moved to SF from LA ('87) we had no Trader Joe's. After visits to my mother in LA, I would return with a trunkful of juice and almond butter, and other TJ treats for my friends. I think I might never move again to a place without Trader Joes, the food is better and cheaper than it is in the supermarket. My only complaint is with their excessive packaging.

I swear, I must have gone to the wrong trader joe's... They also have food I don't want. Or rather, they don't have food I want. But they have other weird food. The one I went to didn't have produce, either. And stuff wasn't cheap. I must have gotten the bad one. It was a new one.
Okay.
Whole Foods it is.

How can you go to Whole Paycheck and even discuss cheap ?

I can't imagine what TJ's you went to. The first few times I went I had to try things out. It was a matter of finding the stuff I liked. They have killer cheap frozen entrees and excellent salads. I am also a big fan of their water and other fluids. The one by me has very reasonable fruit. I eat blueberries, grapes, strawberries and the like year round. When whole paycheck is charging 5 bucks for a tiny container of raspies or blueberries the same one is 2.29 at TJ's. Anyway....90% of my food comes from that place. And the vitamins are an amazing bargain too. To each their own, Frank.

We don't have Trader Joe's in Austin. We have Whole Foods, though, and I won a $25 gift card there at work the other day. I figure I could buy a loaf of bread with that.
