The most I ever said to him about it was when I tossed him that little piece of the heart at the end of a particularly serious night. Then about 2 days before graduation, he walked up to me behind this one building where we always used to meet. I was sitting by myself looking at my own piece of the same heart, which I always had on. I had taken it off and was staring at it and was of course thinking about what the hell I was going to do in two days. I was kind of upset and mad at him - for what I don't know. Probably because I knew it was over. That part of our lives was simply going to be over and there was nothing anyone could do about it. He asked me what I was doing and I remember just shaking my head and refusing to say anything. He saw what I was doing. All I could do was to ask him if he still had it. He knew what I meant. He produced it in a flash and said he had been carrying it with him since the night I gave it to him. I can still see what it looked like and how it caught the light. I reached out and touched it and touched his hand, and I swear to God at that second someone walked around the building and yelled our names. I don't remember who it was. But I do remember feeling like I was caught. We both pulled back our hands and stepped away from each other and everything changed. What happened next ? I have no idea. Don't know. Can't recall. I just know something broke that second. And that I sat against the wall alone until it was very late and very dark and then I walked home by myself. Damn. Hadn't thought of that in a long time. I forgot all about that day. And I probably better stop thinking about it. |

It's not the sex innuendo that bothers me... it's talking about the Olive Garden... it makes me want to puke. |

I'd bet that he's wondered about you, too, though, and most likely still has his piece of that heart.
