That's reasonable. She was often compared to Joni way back when, and she was sort of sour about it, as if she had never heard Joni. I think it was the long straight blond hair, the sometimes jazzy arrangements, and good lyrics (but not Chuck E's in love) that caused poeple to compare them. I think Pirates is her best album - in fact it is an amazing album.
Carole King seems a good choice too, if you are keeping it gender-seperate.

BTFLCHLD worked her fairy magic on a little sample I gave her from Japan Music Show. He does a couple of amazing sexy things right before this part, too. I have to fan myself when I look at it.

Totally! he sniffs, and then the huge sniff turns into snarl. it is "Oh Well" and I think he is summoning the attitude. Just before this, he looks sideways at Christine, and/or John, and grins, but the expression is more fleeting, and too subtle to read in a short anim. I think she got just the right part!

I can live without all of them, but voted for Dion, for putting a patch to Streisand fiasco at the Oscars. She showed some class there.

BTW, Joni is best matched against Dylan in terms of career and she would be scandalized and furious to be judged in terms of gender.
