Aerosmith popularized the power ballad, so they're out of the question for me.

Van Halen with Roth were GREAT, after that they made music with those two singers that actually took themselves way too seriously. Roth always had his tongue firmly in his cheek even during his most macho moments.

AC/DC have been solid for over 30 years now, doing their goof-rock schtick (which I can't take all seriously and I believe it isn't meant to be taken seriously anyway) to near-perfection. So they're my choice.

Exclamation Interesting...

depending on which era for which band...

I went with Van Halen, cause the Roth era OWNED Aero-Supply (Total lameass commercial sellouts, Hate to admit it but they need to hit the drugs and go back to when they were a great rock band instead of some lameass trendy band. "Night in the Ruts" is appropriate for Aero-Supply now because they no longer have any "Nuts", cause they were hit by the $$$ "Right in the Nuts"!!!)....But then again so did the Bon Scott era of AC/DC.

Btw, AC/DC's Brian Johnson has the greatest name EVER of ANY rock n roll musician...Trust me, that is a GREAT NAME!!!!

But I think I have to agree with Gaius here, almost word-for-word. I think Van Halen with DLR were better than AC(lightning bolt)DC with either of their lead singers, but they just released too much horrible, self-serious crap with Hagar, who has the distinction of penning one of the worst and stupidest rock lyrics of all time: "Only time will tell if we can stand the test of time." Gee, you think so?

AC(lightning bolt)DC have just been an incredibly solid band for years, and the only thing about themselves that they take seriously is their commitment to rock the f*** out. Also, two thumbs up for their cameo at the end of Private Parts.

ACDC by far, I havent heard a Van Halen song I like yet, I find DLR annoying and Eddie Van Halen can't play the guitar. Aerosmith has a few good songs but they PISS me off, so ACDC wins this batch by a Landslide.

van halen has only a relatively short period of not sucking for such an extended career.

aerosmith.. zzzzz..

butthead wears an ac/dc shirt. clearly, this makes ac/dc superior.

Argh. Tough face off round. I listen to them all (with the weakest link being Van Halen)...but AC/DC rules them all.

Fav Song: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.

Thumbs up

This was a tough choice for me, again! I chose Aerosmith because they have changed things up slightly over the years. The AC/DC formula has been hammered into the ground at this point...although they are great at what they do. Plus, I like Bon scott's vocals better....

Van Halen I prefer with David Lee, and he's been long gone.....

so I pick Aerosmith...props to them for having all the original members too.

He's a clown. Can't stand him. Sammy Hagar was so much cooler.

Van Halen. But ONLY with David Lee Roth.

That's so weird. Today, out of NOWHERE, I got VH stuck in my head. And now, this poll. It's like I have developed Ledgie ESP.

I couldn't have said it better

And I'd like to add that AC/DC has been the most consistantly good among these three bands. Aerosmith had that embarrassing 80's, 90's and 00's period and Van Haggar sucks balls.
