Hey Jayne, sorry you're feeling a little down about the experience. It's so hard after all the excitement to have it not go perfectly, isn't it? Well, you still did get to meet her, and hopefully the photo will give you good memories. Did you exchange any words with Stevie? A hello? I'm sure she knew, despite McAnus, that it meant the world to you to meet her. She seems to get it. Maybe after sleeping on it, you'll feel better. I hope so... Congrats in any case for even having the guts to do this!

I don't understand this type of thing. Not just with Stevie, but ANYONE. People pay boocoos (How do you spell that damn word, anyways? LOL) of cash and then are told, you can't talk to her, no autographs, run up there, pose for one millisecond and LEAVE THE PREMISES!!! I am NOT a cow and don't like to be treated like cattle, thank you. That just p*sses me off how security and those people treat you.

Sorry you had your hopes up of speaking with Stevie. That's cool you got a pic with her though.

I wonder if this could have been a "high expectations" thing?
In other words, you were SO excited to meet her, but wanted to
spend more time than was really feasible, this particular time around.
Remember there's a lot of crazies out there, as we've seen on That Other
Board recently - and McManus has absolutely no way of knowing
who's a totally normal fan and who's a nutbar.
Maybe there's a little "letdown" feeling afterward - but you got to MEET
her and even SPEAK with her, even if only briefly -
isn't that exciting?

Also, I have the impression that you were there in a Professional or at
least Semi-Professional capacity - maybe McManus didn't realize what
a huge FAN you are, and was treating you only from the viewpoint of
someone who was there to work? - hence "one picture ONLY," etc.?

Wow, I can understand why you feel the way you do. Why do people have to be so frickin rude? . At least you got to speak a few words with her and get a picture with her too! From your post it seems like this McAnus guy really got carried away with himself. Was Stevie aware of the way you were being treated? Well, I am happy for you that you got to meet her and got your pic with her, you did what you set out to do, even though it didn't go quite the way you thought it would

It really breaks my heart to hear this! and it pisses me off to no end! We all need to write to Stevie's people and let Stevie know that this is what is going on at these big "meet & greets"!

I am sorry Janis that McManus was so rude. After all anus is part of his last name, sorry he has to act like an a$$ hole.

On the flip side, I hope your second pic turned out okay. From other interviews though, it does seem like she is understanding of people who say they are nervous and she will do sometihng to make you feel more at ease. Hey, it is not every day that someone gets to meet their rock idol. You go girl. I give you lots of credit for the guts to go out there and do that. I would be a mass of quivering jello.

Wow, 1.5 meters away from you for 30 min. WOW. That is wonderful. Did you hear anything that Stevie was saying to other people? Maybe Stevie was a little bit nervous too. First time at the Melbourne Cup races and all.

I am sending you a BIG HUG

So she was in the tent for 30 minutes? Did she say anything?

I cannot believe she wore stage clothes to this event. I thought she had some great outfits made? A dress from 1978 and the pants outfit from the tour? I like the pants but I am a bit stunned she wore stage clothes.
Stevie should be ASHAMED of herself
i wanna see sparkly NEW outfits
margi should be fired

I liked the long black dress outfit she wore the first day..which is definetley not something I would consider stage clothes for her...very unique, and loved the hat.

Chris

I don't consider the dress from 78 to be stage clothes either but the R and R outfit was. I was referring to Stevie's comments that she was having a ball with Margi getting her outfits in order and she specifically mentioned having outfits made to go with some theme. She looked lovely in the black dress outfit even though she needed a bra. I saw a bit more of Stevie than I wanted to, thanks.

I think maybe for the presentation of the "Plate" itself (on TV in the
country where she is touring in February...) Stevie wanted to look like
a Rock Star more than a Fancy Horse Race person. She was maybe
being a Rock Rebel a little bit and dressing like SHE wanted to, not
like these Fancy so-and-so's would have preferred her to -
"take it or leave it, I don't care what you think" etc.
I bet you ANY amount of money that some of these people were
whispering behind her back about the huge feathers in her hat, for
example.
Trust her, hmmm?

Two words.
The first one's "Bill."
Can you guess the second?
The crazies ruin it for everyone else,
and from a "Security" point of view they had a freakin' nightmare
on their hands. Obviously I can only guess since I wasn't there
but I think they did their best with what they considered to be
a potentially dangerous situation.

She's very warm and friendly and always put people at ease. And she doesn't seem to adverse to hugs either... good luck!

oh no. don't get me wrong i LOVED the hat
but from what stevie was saying before the races sounded like she was getting NEW outfits ......and even though that may have been 'new' in the sense that she hadn't worn it out in public it wasn't my favorite choice for her
