And again, take a look at the Enchanted tour "acoustic set" for evidence that Stevie can do this and fans are appreciative of it.
I'm loving you more every day.....

I was really proud of her on the Enchanted tour. "Garbo", "Sleeping Angel" (!!!!), "Enchanted", "Gold and Braid", "After The Glitter Fades", "Rose Garden" and "Twisted". Yes, Stevie- it is possible to play rarities to an appreciative crowd.

I am not thinking the photo is all that bad. The makeup is a mess but **** happens. I like to see her smile because that is a rarity when she is photographed. We always get the "canned, serious, I am so sexy" pose.
I like candid Stevie moments and her hotel room is certainly pretty casual.

And she clearly loved doing it! Why she has this idea that she could only ever do it on that tour is beyond me.

The true irony here is not that folks like us complain about stale setlists every tour. The true irony is this: The fact that there are so many fans who actually defend these tired song choices is exactly the reason that she should feel more comfortable mixing things up. Stevie has some of the most hardcore, dedicated, ass-licking fans in the world! They own every variation of every record she's ever put out, they know every song by heart backwards, they own all kinds of ridiculous memorabilia. As you said earlier, there is just a huge protion of her audience that would give her a standing ovation if she were wheeled out onstage, farted "Rhiannon," and left. I don't think these fans would somehow falter in their undying devotion if she pulled out "Nightbird" or "Bella Donna" or "Storms."

Rooms on Fire would TOTALLY work with an Orchestra. I would love to see that. As for this little set list debate that happens everytime, I would rather still see Enchanted and Outside the Rain then Dreams and Stop Draggin My Heart Around.

Although more of a "Chrissie guy" than a "Stevie guy", this seems exciting, and something that I'll go to.....especially because its literally just down the road from my house!!

...bring Lindsey!!

If she really were that lazy, she'd just stay home. But I do agree with you that she's afraid of trying anything new or out of her comfort range.

Did you manage to say that with a straight face?

I well and truly don't give a flying fig what you or anyone else thinks of Stevie at this point. I've been on the Ledge since 1997... there isn't a single thing that anyone can say about her that hasn't already been said.

If you pay attention, you'll see that I'm not defending her... but questioning the need to always take the piss out of anything that someone might be remotely excited about.
I'm sure the Australian fans who haven't seen her solo in twenty years are happy to hear what the jaded Americans who've seen her in concert two and three dozen times, think of the show they're looking forward to seeing.

Why not let someone else have a good time, instead of ranting about all the reasons you're convinced it's going to suck?

That's all I'm trying to say.

It was just beautiful. I actually laid out in my speedo for about 15 minutes after my swim. Fantastic.

Of course I did. I love Stevie. She is my favorite artist of all time. Which is why I want her to sing songs like "Sable on Blonde" live.

All that time??? Man, did they even have long playing albums back then??

If one really is excited about the prospect of seeing Stevie and is deflated by a comment of mine on an internet message board, then I doubt the strength of their excitement to begin with. I'm on exactly the same side as that giddy Aussie, it's just that I wanna see it good and I don't wanna flush $6,000.00 only to be disappointed.

Again, if one's character is weak enough to be affected by stuff like this, it wasn't that strong to begin with.

I hope everyone has a good time. I don't think her tired set lists suck- I just think she could do a better job.

Truth be told, there are so many songs that, to me, are utter perfection in their studio versions, that I'm happy she's never performed them live.

But I express all of these opinions from the angle that I'm much more of a fan of recordings than live performances. For me, the "magic" comes from being alone with my headphones on, listening to the albums, and connecting with the songs in a private way. Being surrounded by hundreds or thousands of other people draws me out of the moment and my enjoyment of the music suffers.

So it doesn't disappoint me at all that she's never done "Sable On Blond" or "Battle Of The Dragon" or so many others, because I have my perfect little studio versions, which, in my mind, can't be topped.

I know that's always the argument... "if someone is hurt by what I say, then too bad for them"... but what's wrong with having consideration for someone else's feelings? Life sucks the big one enough as it is, why not let people have something that brings them enjoyment without tainting it?

This isn't a good example at all, but in 1st or 2nd grade, my friend Mark went around telling everyone that Santa Claus wasn't real. Resulting in a lot of tears from our classmates and a lecture from our teacher.
I had already figured out for myself that "Santa" was in fact my mother and father, but I could tell that believing in Santa Claus made other kids happy, so I never said a word.

If something brings enjoyment to someone's life, I'd rather not be the one to piss on it for them.
