Default This Highwayman should have been on Bella Donna

I prefer this version of The Highwayman, it just sounds warmer than the version actually on the album (and not just because Don Henley isn't providing backing vocals).

What do you all think?

All of these excellent sounding demos, these could/should have been on the "Enchanted" boxed set. I love me some Stevie, I love all of the pictures and overall it was a better boxed set than the Mac's 92 set, but did we really need all of these album versions on the boxed set? There were 8 songs from BD that were on Enchanted with Edge of Seventeen being the only different one because it was live. How great it would have been to have these alternate version that have recently surfaced.

Think About It
The Highwayman
Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind
Jane
The Nightmare (special vocal remix)
Rock A Little (remix)

... and while I'm ranting, I would have picked "I Pretend" and "Smiling Islands" over "Gold" and "Whenever I Call You Friend." Both Gold and Friend were and are already available on CD. Ah well, I still love ya Stevie

I Pretend and Smiling Islands are some amazing songs with fabulous vocals by La Nicks. I have yet to find a nice quality version of either.

This is beautiful. I love the original and I think Don's harmonies are great on it, but this is an excellent quality alternate with very different production. I'm loving it. Thanks for posting!

This is a beautiful version of a song I haven't cared for so strongly in the past. I love the vocal - it's purer, somehow. More alive. I've sometimes felt the vocal on the version on BD sounded tired. Thanks for posting this. I may have to rethink my opinion of this song. Oh, and I love the aaaah's...

Thanks for posting this! I have always loved this song. This would have made a perfect country hit for Stevie. Too bad some country radio Dj didn't slip it in to their playlist back then. I hope some up and coming country songstress will cover this and make it another "landslide" for Stevie. Have there been any covers of this song?

I think it's one of the best vocals I've ever heard from her. I'm getting verklempt listening to it.

I very much like the pacing on this version. And the vocal is so pure. Thanks.
