Many of those so called charities are to Universities which you know arent teeming with welfare scholars.
Face it my dear, the days of Noblesse Oblige are LONG GONE. And all that moolah floating around in your list above only really helps the middle class at best, but I'd venture to say it more probably goes further up.

The despicable Teflon Ron got it ALL WRONG, there is NO SUCH THING as trickle down, that was very aptly described as "VOODOO ECONOMICS"
by poppa Bush and there has never been any benefit realized to the lowest by giving tax cuts to the richest. The richest also do not pay the most taxes because they have more tax loopholes to utilize and more places to hide their assets, therefore, the ones paying the MOST taxes are the middle class.
Giving the rich a FREE PASS does not help the poor no matter how you spin it. Sorry.

Yep - the rich (however you arbitrarily define that) apparently never donate to anything you approve of - so they are all a$$holes and no one better say anything different because you know better and any discusssion that they might donate to a worthy cause every now and then when the spirit moves them automatically make the sayer of that an elitist calling for a free pass to the inherently greedy and uncaring rich

Thus, I think the apparently inherently evil rich should stop all donations right now lest they meet with your disapproval and donate for the wrong reasons

BTW - in case you did not know this or could not be bothered to research it due to the automatic venom produced by the thought of the rich doing something good - almost all of those universities you so readily bash have hospitals and other programs that administer to the poor on a regular basis, many have medical research programs that benefit society as a whole, and they have scholarship and outreach programs to help the needy at all levels, which fails to support your hastily drawn and incorrect point

On a more personal note, just look at one of our large local charities - AID Atlanta, which clearly administers to the poor and downtrodden in many ways, including education for prevention. A little over 36% (totaling $2,020,857) of its budget comes from the AIDS walk, private donations, and foundations, which are all a form of individual giving as seen here http://www.aidatlanta.org/aboutus/financials.shtml That is a huge amount of money from people when you consider how many charities are competing for that money.

In the end, it is your automatic assumption that the rich never do anything to help the poor that I find incorrect and clearly unsupported by the facts, though IMO they can and should do more.
