Really? What about the "doo doo doo doos..." at the beginning of the song? She "doo doo'ed" twice on The Wild Heart album in "Stand Back" and "The Nightbird". I can't believe nobody here thinks the person singing with Prince on All Over You doesn't even remotely sound like Stevie Nicks. If anything the male part BARELY resembles Prince.

I for one am convinced it's Stevie, really really like the song and wish she'd record a new version of it.

There's also this on Nixksfix about Stevie and Prince "playing around" on a song together:

Stevie: You wanna hear a story about Prince? One time we played New York and he came and picked me up . . . he wanted to take me out to his house. Of course none of my people wanted to just let me go. Nine-thirty in the morning. We get in Prince's purple car. He was in his purple clothes too. Swear to God. I had halfway gotten out of my stage clothes, but I still had the skirt on, and tennis shoes . . . I get in his car, and we're, I kid you not, in Minnesota. We went down the freeway at 150 miles an hour. And I am, like, "We're gonna get pulled over. This is gonna look so bad. We're gonna get pulled over, Prince. We're going 150 miles an hour." So I went out and spent the day at his purple house. We kind of played around with a song for a little while, in his recording studio a little bit, and then he took me back to be at the Fleetwood Mac plane at, like, three o'clock in the afternoon. I made it back on time to take off and go to the next gig. But I swore we were gonna be pulled over. And how are we gonna . . . looking like we look . . . how are we going to get out of this one? What are we gonna say? We were, you know, we were just casually cruising out to your house, you know . . . at 150 miles an hour. Prince, we're gonna go to jail, both of us. He didn't care. He kept going.

this is a lady who threatened to quit a band that named its album "Tusk" -- Genitalia are genitalia, & Stevie Nicks is Stevie Nicks, & nary the twain shall meet (at least not in song).
I usually keep my mouth shut during the "Sister Honey" discussions... but you expressed my own opinions on the matter perfectly.

Stevie is (was?) a sexual being, yes, but the idea that she'd sing a song about luring a man with her vagina is extremely far-fetched, IMO.

I never heard that story thanks so much for posting it! I wonder what year that was? Could this be the story of All Over You?
"We're gonna go to jail"...ha ha for speeding. She's classic. The stories this woman could tell! I cannot imagine the life she has lived.

I agree.

I think the song is about her relationship with Chris, which makes sense as she says "can we still be friends - the answer's always yes!"

But, to each their own.

Also, when I first heard it, I qot a herine vibe from it

I didn't post the whole things...it's an excerpt from a radio interview, but it has the date...and if you google Stevie Nicks and Prince...a whole lotta stuff comes up!

Very cool post... See, i knew their interaction with each other was much more than what she talked about on Storytellers...

Stevie's got secrets out the wazoo! I wish she'd write a book! It'd be white-hot!

I heard this song the other day on the radio and totally thought it was Stevie. When I got home I looked at the Tom Petty album that has this song ,and only Sharon, Lori and Marilyn Martin are listed as backup.

psssst - not sure but I think maybe there's a Little More to This Story -
I heard that she was actually wearing undies and he had come to her
dressing room, picked her up and carried her to the car. She wasn't
pleased. ( I don't think she was actually mad - I read it more as her
laughing a lot the whole time. ) Anyway I think maybe he tended to
be kind of "preachy" at her (like The Cough Medicine Incident) and
he was saying to her in between HIS lines, "OH so you're a Big Wild
Rock Star? OH-kay, let's get WILD, Wild Rock Star!!! After all isn't
that who you ARE!?" Anyway not sure where I saw this or if it's true
but I seem to remember reading something about it...
I somehow get the impression that getting "preachy" with Stevie
starts to wear thin after about 3 microseconds. . . .
