er..okay...Berkeley has those same perks. Except, I guess, with less "beauty of the city"? Which, to me, means more buildings. Berkeley's naturefullness is preferable to me. So is it's smallerness. Great clubs? probably. They're often far apart, though. But you're probably right about that. All we have are "great bars".

However, they're all pretty much right next to each other....

"moody weather, mysterious fog" - yep, we have that, it's just less moody, windy, and mysterious.
Didn't mean to Diss, I just don't like SF that much. From looking at other cities, though, it definitely is one of the prettier ones.

It's so beautiful here right now, clear, sunny, 72 degrees....what the hell am I doing in here?! Gotta go!

Oh me too. Got up late. I love Tilden park. My dad would always take me to the steam engine. What a great ride. So gorgeous.

And the independent book stores in Berkeley rule. Is Dark Carnival still around?

I think so - was it up towards college ave, but past it? closer to piedmont? there's one like that up there - forgot the name. I live way down on Shattuck...

There's lots of other independent bookstores, though.
When I had my car I loved hiking in Tilden. And swimming in that pond.

Berkeley is a great place, because you can ride your bike everywhere, and North Berkeley is especially great: I mean, Cheese board - nothing beats that!

I grew up in LA, spent 17 years living in the City (SF), and I worked for a couple years in Berkeley. They all have some pretty great things aobut them. I live near Santa Cruz now, and I am missing San Francisco quite a bit!

I thought Dark Carnival closed - couldn't find it last time I looked. Change of Hobbit is still there. There used to be a Change of Hobbit in Santa Monica, also.

LA has some great bookstores, but they are spread out, like everything else: Midnight Special (I think that is still around), BookSoup, Either/Or (oops, that's gone)

For live music, you can see some awesome shows at McCabes Guitar shop. The live music scene really feel apart in SF a while back, but it is starting to come back.

Amber, I lived there for a year when my dad was on sabbatical. He taught at UCB, and we lived in this beatiful house in the Hills. It was one of the greatest years of my life.

Tilden Park... I used to love going walking there with my mother and my dog. We'd go all the time, even in the pouring down rain. The Cheese Board was one of my favourite shops (oh, the SMELL! Pure heaven). Telegraph Avenue. Strawberry Canyon Pool. The carousel - was that in Tilden, too? I can't remember. We also used to go to some great restaurants - I doubt they're still around. Reza's Pizza was one. Bott's ice cream (oh my God, it was good. I always had bittersweet chocolate). And there were a few Mexican and Chinese restaurants we went to, as well... but their names are escaping me...

Nice little town, ain't it? You're lucky you lived in the hills, it's fr**cking gorgeous up there.
