I did enjoy the SYW Dance for a bit.

Lindsey recycles his speeches (though he had new ones for 'Say You Will') and we all know they're always going to do the "Landslide" hug. For this tour, they added that little "Tusk" dance and Stevie's little "Say You Will" dance.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what constitutes "the same rehearsed movements." Outside of hauling Paula Abdul in to choreograph the show, I'm not sure how much differently one can move after 30 some odd years. Even Tina Turner and Mick Jagger still dance the same way they did in the '60s.

And the same setlist for ages? By the second US leg, there were 13 songs in common with 'The Dance' (which happened six years prior to the 'Say You Will' tour) and 11 different songs (8 of which had never been performed on previous tours).

Very nearly half of the setlist was different to what they had played on the 'Dance' tour.

Sweetie, it sounds to me like you should be thankful they don't wildly vary their setlists... it saves you a LOT of money that way!

This is just fruitless at this point. Let's agree to disagree.

I agreed with you in the Rumours Forum yesterday, so I couldn't let the trend continue!

Well, yeah, look at those ticket prices; they're a bunch of greedy bastards. And Lindsey has the audacity to feign ignorance when it comes to ticket prices, trying to say that he has nothing to do with them and doesn't really know how much they cost.

Here's the funny thing. I remember saying last year that after going to 25 in 2003, I needed a break. Well, I ended up at 10 in '04, so what the hell do I know? I'm sure that if and when a new tour is announced, I'll get that fever again.

If anyone is following the band around in this day and age, they have to know they're going to be seeing basically the same setlist at every show.
So why complain about that fact when it's our choice whether we go or not (or download the bootlegs or not)?

I don't want to sound bitter, but some of us don't even get to see one show per tour. So being sick of setlists is a foreign concept to me.
You might stand in that arena and roll your eyes and think, "Ugh, she's doing 'Edge Of Seventeen' AGAIN," but I'd be standing there thinking, "Oh my God, I'm actually seeing 'Edge Of Seventeen' LIVE!"
Alot of my friends were saying how bould I go to so many of the same whos all the time. I told them hald of it is seeing other fans in differeent cities, and just the fun of traveling from city to city.

So, we've been really lucky now and they've been out there for quite a while (some more than others), but I have to say, when Stevie's little Gold Dust Tour ended (for me) in the beginning of July...I missed her the rest of the summer. I miss Lindsey like crazy. I would LOVE to see them all again. The sooner the better.

And they are nearing 60--which is in no way old--and they are (thankfully) healthy--but I wouldn't go kidding myself about the business side of show biz. It's a good time now because many, many "older" acts are coming out and they are relying on baby boomers (for the most part--I'm not discounting younger fans) to put out the cash. If they see that trend changing in any way (if we, as fans, stay home)...that will be the end of it. They might create music, they may even pop up somewhere in some small way--but it will never be the way it has been these past few years.

So...I'm getting in all the gusto while it's still out there to get;-)
You know, thats a really good point. I can remember back in '99 and 2000 I was wondering if this really was the end, and then we have the last 3 years. So, maybe I was wrong somewhat.

I'm a little burnt out on FM, maybe, yes ... If somebody posts a WH soundboard, I'll love it all over again.

But I'm not burnt out on message board chatting with all you Fleetwood Macster lovers. This is what's really fun. It's like the marketplace in ancient Athens. I still love brushing cobwebs out of our nooks & crannies with Homer & Hector & Amber & Johnny & Janet & Regina & smacdoug & jbrowns & Danielle & Brian & Steve & Mikki & distension & strandie & the Seattle Irishman MacFuncken & even Jill & perhaps most of all Sugar!!

This is a lot more fun than just playing that dumb Tusk reissue again & trying to avoid being instantly narcotized.

Oh I hear you!! I love coming here, even if I put my foot in my mouth occasionally....

For the record, I saw only one show on the SYW tour, and that's the only time I've seen Fleetwood Mac live. But I am probably one of the more vocal complainers of their stagnant setlists. So why do I care?

Because it sets a tone, and it sets a standard. It creates an atmosphere and a feeling that this is an active dynamic band and not just a travelling museum exhibit. No matter how much feeling they put into the songs that they do play on any given night, there's something distressingly stagnant about a Fleetwood Mac (or Stevie) show. If they mixed up their setlists, whether or not I was at a show where they played a certain rarity wouldn't especially matter, because that sets a tone for the band and for future shows, it sends a message that this is a living and breathing and changing experience, and we as a band are here to give you something unique that other people haven't experienced before - this is just for you. As it is, though, their concerts come off as little more than a prepackaged product, ready to be delivered to waiting consumers. It's a Broadway musical, everybody's memorized their lines, and they're ready to bring the same show to every city in the country. And that may be fine for a Broadway musical, but as far as I'm concerned, that's not what rock concerts are supposed to be about.

I don't think this is an argument about who can afford to go to how many shows. It's an argument about the band's attitude toward their art and what they think its role in a live setting should be.

I'm officially Stevie obsessed again. Her performance on the Today show was enough to charge my Fleetwood Mac battery for a while.

Yep, me too. I am Mac'd out and think a tired old stale tour next year which will probably be a repeat of last year and the year before could be time better spent in either recording a new cd, Stevie recording a new solo cd and touring (my first choice) and for the Lindsey fans, him recording one. I think them getting out there touring for the hell of it isn't good business and I'm ready for some new music! I am not Stevie'd out tho. Never!
