I'm with you both too. I do not enjoy going to the movies anymore. I used to go 3-4x per week. Not anymore.

With huge TV's, kick ass 5.1 sound systems, Netflix...I get the groove right at home.

Finally saw Polanksi's 'The Pianist,' 'Greenfingers,' and last night I watched 'Seed of Chucky.' That movie is hilarious. Jennifer Tilly cracks me up.

The last two movies I saw were both excellent.
Broken Flowers, which still has me thinking, and History Of Violence, which was pretty powerful.

I didn't enjoy Broken Flowers at all. Very disappointed with that one. There were parts that I really liked but as a whole, I was underwhelmed. History of Violence was great and Viggo surprised me quite a bit, but I'm a huge Cronenberg fan, anyway.

I thought the end of Broken Flowers was underwhelming but then I haven't stopped talking about it since. Did he have a son? Was it a trick? There are loads of different theories apparently. So while I came out not knowing what to think (apart from the fact that Bill was, as ever, excellent) there are not too many films that have you thinking about them long after, which is why, ultimately I liked it
I thought History Of Violence was a very different film for Cronenberg, especially after Spider, but that too was very effective. Viggo was great, as was Ed Harris. Cronenberg is such an interesting director, everything he does is worth seeing I think.

The last movie I saw in the theater was Million Dollar Baby. Shows how I need to get out.

I love movies : going into small theatres where I find the obscure directors I like most or joining friends watching a blockbuster that's not made by Bruckheimer or hasn't Tom Cruise in the cast: everytime is a big emotion for me the magic of the big screen, nothing comparable to dvds.

Some nice films I've watched recently: Goodnight, and Good Luck - I've already said it but it's truly beautiful, perfectly acted, very well directed and with some fantastic cinema moments, like the scenes shared by Patricia Clarkson and Robert Downey Jr. I'm looking forward to watch it again.
Sympathy For Lady Vengeance - Whoever has seen and loved Old Boy shouldn't miss this one. The leading actress is mesmerizing and her character is extremely nuanced, a desperate femme fatale near to a dark sanctity. It's very violent and quite disturbing though, but Park Chan Wook is one of the most visually powerful directors around, IMO.
Le Petit Lieutenant - A classic polar (noir with cops as leading characters), but its rhythm and measure in the performances give to the movie a strong, intriguing flavour.
13 - Tzameti: beautiful sharp film shot in black and white, claustrophobic and direct, melting thriller and characters study.
Proof - There's Tony Hopkins in it, so my judgement isn't crystal clear but I found it a good drama, extremely well acted and directed, where for the first time I found Gwyneth Paltrow tolerable.

I also love Cronenberg (although he really messed with my head with Crash). But I was very disappointed with 'Spider.' Don't get me wrong, I love the book. Discovered that Patrick McGrath (Asylum, The Grotesque) 'Spider' novel when it first published so long ago. I was mesmorized by it. Truly disturbing. I remember saying someday I am going to make a film of this. 10 or so years later, Cronenberg got to it first. Just not too happy with the film, mostly I think Ralph Fiennes was miscast.

I think Ralph Fiennes is vastly overrated to begin with, but I thought "Spider" was all about Miranda Richardson; she was outstanding.

I still don't think he's yet surpassed "Videodrome" and "Dead Ringers," though.

Miranda Richardson rocked that movie. Nailed that performance, as she tends to do.

I am one lucky owner of the OOP 'Criterion Dead Ringers.' So love that movie. Brilliant. Jeremy Irons really taught me what it is to be an amazing actor.

Me, toooooo! I saw the Warners reissue of it last weekend at Best Buy and they stripped almost all of the extras from the Criterion release. I should dust it off and watch it tonight.

eXistenZ is another one of my favorites; it's such a perverse black comedy. There's something about it that just tickles me pink.

Have you seen the adaptation of Asylum with Natasha Richardson?
It's quite compelling. Ian McKellen is particularly good in it.

I suspect that something is Jude Law

What has happened to him? He used to be such an interesting actor. Alfie, Sky Captain... all terrible.

I hardly ever go. Once every 6 months usually! But I've been seeing more movies lately because I literally force my friends to go see them now. I saw 40 Year Old Virgin and it was okay. Pretty funny. Loved Flight Plan. But I think those are the only movies I've seen all year!

I still want to see Exorcisim of Emily Rose, Elizabeth Town, and War of the Worlds. That is probably already out on video by now though.

Oh my, I saw that last month and had forgotten all about it. I saw a review for it on BBC America and thought it looked great; it most definitely was. McKellen was truly chilling. I did think that it was far too short and Hugh Bonneville didn't hit all the right notes, but other than that, it was tops.

I don't really love to go to the movies, but my boss always has free passes that he gives out. My cheapness gets the best of me and I usually end up going.

I recently saw Corpse Bride and The History of Violence. The latter was probably one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. The whole cast was incredible. Viggo <3
I honestly only went to see Corpse Bride because I heard there was going to be a trailer for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. ::geek::
