I'm with you-Curtis!!!!

Can't she PLEASE do something else??? She has been writing songs for almost 40 years, nothing else in her collection she can choose????
I find this very FRUSTRATING!!

(And I still say Landslide is not appropriate, and Stand Back is about what?)
Perhaps I will miss this one

I will say tho Landslide I could do without, altho I dont care what she does...

maybe even "Talk to me" and "has anyone ever written anything for you?" wouldve been good choices?

Bullsh*t. If people want to donate, they will donate, no matter the song. I think it's weird to think that Stevie performing "hits" will make more money and what-not.....and she does have more hits than Stand Back and Landslide. If she really really wanted to hit home with the viewers, Maybe Love, a single-although not a big one, would have been perfect, but that's out of her comfort zone.

Well playing hits will likely attract more viewers...so if more people, esp. just casual music fans are interested in the show, that means more donations

I doubt. There are viewers who watch the show everyday....and when a die-hard fan knows their beloved is on....they watch, too. The "in-betweeners" don't care....and the casual fans probably don't even know she will be on...and if they do, they don't know what she will be singing until the first note is played.....

Well to be honest...I tune into the Today show concerts sometimes...but if I see someone on there that I KIND OF like, but i'm not a "die hard fan" of , if they are playing a song I know and already like it's more likely I will stay on the channel...

I think it's obvious Curtis. She chose those songs according to a precise plan to make angry her fans who love to start again the same old "why is she singing those songs" ritual even when she goes to a benefit show.

I understand that fact that she has to play a well-known song. When artists perform on shows similar to the Today Show, they often play a well-known song and a new song because they are promoting a new CD. I know she's not promoting a new CD, but why can't she do the classic live song, "Stand Back" as well as something a little different such as "HAEWAFY"? As stated in other posts, this song would be a perfect tribute to the storm surviors as oppose the disaster-themed and much performed "Landslide".

I've thwarted her plans, then, because I'll always like Stand Back. Landslide, however.....

You know what I do when some band I "kinda like" is on TV playing a song I don't know? I turn the channel.

Sorry, but it's the truth. And I'd bet a lot of other people do it, too... especially since damn-near everyone has a remote control. Gone are the days when you'd watch whoever came on the telly, simply because you didn't want to get up to change the channel.

Diehards are the only ones who plotz over obscure material from long-forgotten albums... everyone else wants you to play that song they always hear on the radio.
