Yes, it's a great movie, she's very good in it (and it has an intriguing easter egg: the practical lesson on how to seduce your acting partner, trying and trying again till you succeed). I also liked her in Hello Dolly, Yentl, What's Up Doc and Meet the Fockers . What I don't like of her is her total lack of spontaneity (yes, Lindsey converted me to his cause ), and her arrogance. Prince of Tides and Mirror has Two Faces make look Norma Desmond as a shy wannabe.

I dont have proof of this, but I heard it from several people that day. If it's true, that tops anything else I've heard.

It's true. I won't buy a single thing from her. She will never get a dime out of me. Psycho-cow.

On the other hand, it is a joy to tell the stories about people who are fantastic to work with. That list is much longer. The stories don't come out of thin air. No one wants to go to work on a set for 14-18 hours a day with a human being who makes everyone's lives a living hell. Life is too short.

I don't find her arrogant at all. If anything, Babs is deeply insecure. If you ever get a chance to see her "Inside the Actor's Studio" you may sing another tune. She was pretty down to earth on there. All this throwing her weight around comes from how her Mom treated her. Her Mom really didn't encourage her all that much. She likes control. If she were a man, this conversation wouldn't be happening. And that's what I think is the saddest aspect of these "Barbra Streisand is a bitch" type threads. A strong woman who knows her craft is a bitch. A strong man is an "excellent business mind" or "a real leader." Maybe she just lacks the skills necessary to present herself more gently. I don't think she's a mean spirited person.

I have to fess up and say I know people who have worked with her and found her to be a terror.

I have always thought she comes across as a hard core pushy New Yorker, which can be disarming if you are not from there and/or are unsued to it.

No, a man who acts like an asshole is a bitch. A woman who acts like an asshole is a bitch. It's very simple. If you act like one, people are going to call you one. Insecurity does not give one license to act like a terror to whomever they please. No one, regardless of their stature or clout, has that license and her reputation is well deserved.

There's a difference between pushy city folks and total assholes. She falls into the latter category. Unless I, as a city folk, am just speaking out of my ass and am a total asshole myself and unaware of it.

Yeah, you've sung that song many times. If I had a dime for every time you've called me a pushy, elitist snob, I'd be a Vanderbilt.

If you have your way, you will be one soon. By injection, anyway.

while it may not give her a license to act in ways some of us are assuming she acts, it may give insight as to why. she was extremely poor and insecure as a child, her father died before she was 2 and her step-father slapped her and did permanent damage to one of her ears. she pulled herself up and rose to the top of her craft, imo, as a singer and actor. maybe she is a bitch or an asshole, maybe not, I don't know her and not sure anyone here does, but bitch or not, she has talent like none have or ever will - I'm sure none of us can say how we'd act if we grew up in that situation and became famous at 19. also, she's the biggest selling artist next to the likes of Elvis...she's doing something right and has lasted all this time.

suffice it to say, so what if she's a bitch. it doesn't make her any less an artist or person - she's done so much for various charities, stands up for what she believes in and opened doors for female artists..bitch? maybe, aren't we all...

Yup, have to agree. There is no excuse for acting like an idiot. Just because they have cash or are famous is no excuse. I know a lot of strong women who know their craft, who aren't bitches, as well as men. It is just pure arrongance, they think the rules do not apply to them. Most of these types I have come across would be nothing if you took away the money and fame. Very shallow. I pity them mostly. I have also met famous rich types that were very kind and nice. So, just because you are "at the top" doesn't mean you have to be a troll.

Yes, it does make her less a person.....and NO we aren't all......To have someone fired for looking at you is just plain wrong and nothing can excuse such arrogance.

The celebrity scape goat. It used to be Babs, and then it went to Leona Hellmsley and then shifted to Martha Stewart. Now Martha's making nice-nice so she's off the hook. Who will be next?

And Jason said this:
