I was about 15 when I really discovered Stevie. So it's been...9 years
I can't believe it's been so long. I've always been into classic rock, so was always familiar with Stevie/Mac. The song that got me into her was Rhiannon though. My first concert wasn't until SYW in Moline IL. I got into FM right before the Dance but was young and didn't have enough money to go. I had tickets for Enchanted and ShangriLa and they all got cancelled. So I didn't get to see her till SYW...and have never seen her solo. I have a feeling I may never get the chance to. |

But now that concerts -- & especially Fleetwood Mac concerts -- cost so much money, I run into more & more fans who just can't go.

How many years or months have u been a fan? 8 years as a huge fan, about 22 as a casual fan.
Do u remember what year it was? I remember Stand Back being on MTV all the time in 83, and I remember RAL, TITN & TOSOTM very well. But my obsessive fandom started with The Dance in 97. Do u remember what song u first heard? Edge, but Stand Back is the one I recall better - maybe because of the video. When was your first Stevie solo concert? Solo: TISL Cuyahoga Falls, OH 2001. I was also lucky enough to see The Dance tour in Buffalo 11/97. |

.2.) 1993ish. I remember hearing FM songs on the radio long before that, but it wasn't until I was 11-12 yrs old that I put 2 and 2 together. 3.) First FM song was either 'Don't Stop' or 'Say You Love Me'. First Stevie was 'Dreams'. (I think...?) 4.) 1994 Street Angel tour. I convinced my parents to take me. I recognized the FM songs and a few of solo hits. At the time I only owned FM-Greatest Hits and Timespace.

How many years or months have you been a fan? Since I was a wee lad and Tango came out, so about 18 years.
Do you remember what year it was? 1987. I specifically remember it because I got my Fisher Price record player for my birthday that year. Do you remember what song you first heard? I remember hearing Gypsy and telling my grandmother "that person has a funny voice," but Seven Wonders drew me in. Odd, because I can't stand that song now. When was your first Stevie solo concert? July 19, 1991 at Great Woods in Mansfield. I don't have fond memories of it, so I like to forget about it and just remember the opening night show of the Street Angel tour, which was marvelous.

How many years or months have u been a fan?
About 24 years. Do u remember what year it was? 1981. Do u remember what song u first heard? I loved Stevie's voice from the moment I heard it and was conscious of it - which was 1981 - Stop Draggin My Heart Around. (I had heard Dreams and Rhiannon as a younger child; they were tucked away in my memory and pulled out later when I heard them again and made the connection) I then became absolutely mesmerized with the Hold Me video - and the woman in the red dress. In my young ignorance, I had no idea they were the same person! But I was hooked. Then came Gypsy.... oh, my Lord! The rest is history. The clincher was the release of Tango in the Night - and my first Fleetwood Mac concert ever. I don't think I took my eyes off Stevie the entire night. That's when I realized I had known and loved all her earlier songs for years, and all the pieces came together. When was your first Stevie solo concert? Other Side of the Mirror tour - summer 1989 - Ottawa, Ontario.

How many years or months have u been a fan?
I first discovered Stevie in maybe, 1978(?). Whenever I Call You Friend was my absolute favorite song. My parents had Rumours and I think I started listening to that around the same time. My sister and I had a "routine" to The Chain. Do u remember what year it was? Maybe 1978- I was 10 years old! Do u remember what song u first heard? Other than the Kenny Loggins duo, I would have to say Dreams. When was your first Stevie solo concert? Rock A Little, I guess 1986. SO much fun! My girlfriends and I dressed all Stevie-ish and wrote on the back of my car "Stevie or Bust!". |

I became a Stevie fan when I heard "Whenever I Call You Friend", but i didn't know it was Stevie at the time...I sang to it all the time when I was little.
"Dreams" and "Rhiannon" made quite an impression back then too, because I recently found a tape with those 2 songs recorded over and over from the radio (to try to get every scrap of sound, y'know!) My first Stevie concert was "Street Angel". Biggest overlook: "Straight Back" from Mirage...wow! what a song!

Sorry this is going to be kind of long so I won't be offended if you don't read it
. I couldn't possibly remember the first time I ever heard Stevie Nicks on the radio. I'm assuming it was probably Dreams in the early 80's but at that time I was very young and didn't know who sang it. I honestly don't have a concious memory of saying "Oh this is Stevie Nicks or FM and I really like this song". I know that the first time I saw her visually was either the Stand Back Video in 83 or I Can't Wait in 85. I wish I could remember which! All I know was I thought she was really cool. When I was 8 I became a huge Madonna fan and was never really into any other female artists. I was completely obsessed with Madonna growing up and although I remember hearing Stevie songs as I got older and loving them (I Can't Wait, Stand Back and Rooms on Fire were the 3 songs I feel in love with Stevie over). I woulnd't say I was a big fan. When I was in high school I saw an ad in the paper for a Stevie Nicks concert in SF (it must have been around 94) and I remember really wanting to go but couldn't find anyone to go with . I was still very into Madonna in those days. In college I bought The Dance and FM Greatest Hits but didn't listen to them that often although I always had some fascination with Stevie. I also bought Timespace around 1997 but the only 3 songs I ever listened to were I Can't Wait, SB, and Rooms. How funny is that? I never bothered to listen to any other songs. I would say at that time I was a casual fan. In 2001 I had a job in music and my boss gave me a promo got a copy of TISL long before it came out because he knew I liked Stevie. I don't even think I listend to the whole album at that time. In March of 2003 I went through the worst time of my life. I lost my job and the love of my life within the same week. I heard a commercial on the radio for the SYW show coming to LA and it was like a lightbulb went off. I thought to myself, "I have to see that show, I have to see Stevie Nicks!" and the rest is history. I went out and bought every single Stevie solo album, pretty much memorized the Nicksfix, and studied her and her music like a college course for about 6 months. It worked out well because I wasn't working at the time and it distracted me from the loss I had suffered. So I've been a hard core fan since March of 2003. I saw her for the first time w/FM around June 03' and first time solo in Vegas of this year. P.S. I'm still a Madonna fan but she's a far #2 behind Stevie. |
