Well, those same people that said it was there in The Dance are mostly the same ones saying it was there in the SYW tour I mean La Nicks was clearly playing to the audience with SS because she essentially did the same schtick every night, though I thing the emotion was true. Personally, I think they have their love affair on stage just as they say. Other than that, I keep my visions to myself.

They sure were. Everything is a rehearsed roadshow, from the speeches to the movements to the embarrassing "Landslide" pandering. That's not to say that they don't have an emotional investment or feel what they're singing, but it's still one big act that they put on because they know it pleases the crowds.

Having said that, "Say Goodbye" is perfection, definitely one of the highlights of the tour. "Silver Springs" should have never been brought back, it paled in comparison to the amazing renditions of it on the '97 tour.

Exactly! Trust me I don't think they have some secret feelings still lingering and are longing to be together again but I think for those few moments when they are on stage singing their songs to one another the emotion is real. And of course they are going to play it up a bit but it still enjoyable knowing the history between them.

FYI Jimmy you are right - SG does not compare to SS but I was just using that to point out songs they have written for eachother and performed together.

Well Say Goodbye they just looked at each other. if I stared at someone dead in the eyes for that amount of time it would look emotional too.

So do you think the '97 versions of Silver Springs on The Dance tour were a "rehearsed roadshow" or do you think there was real emotion behind it?

There's a lot to be said for subtlety.

I think it was both, just like I think the Dance and SYW versions of Landslide were rote, but full of feeling. I think this is what they mean when they say "love affair on stage."

Both. Her conviction in what she was singing didn't waver, but that doesn't mean the performances were any less rehearsed and consciously crowdpleasing.

Bingo. Which is why I laughed everytime Lindsey gave his prewritten speech before WTWCT lamenting the loss of spontaneity of all things!

Did you guys ever see that tv performance of Silver Springs on some talk show in Holland I think it was? That is seriously my favorite SS performance ever. He walks over to her at the end and she bows her head down to him and it is just so incredible! I've never seen anything that intense between the 2 of them in recent years. I would love to believe that that emotion was real, even if it was onstage and only for a moment.
