I just thought I'd share this story with you all. When Fleetwood Mac came to Minneapolis on the Tusk Tour may 9&10, 1980, I begged my mother for 3 weeks to let me go to those shows. Not one, BOTH!!! Of course, she said no and her reasoning was that a 9 year old boy wasnt going to a rock concert like that. Now mind you, my mother was no wacko, she liked rock n roll just as much as the next person, she just didnt want any, shall we say, influences on her young impressionable son. (((((SIGH)))))))) I remember sitting in my room both of those days, a Friday and Saturday, listening to my Fleetwood Mac records and refusing to come out in protest!!! Of course that self-imposed ban from the world did have to take a monents respite for dinner. Anyhow, 4 years later on my 13th birthday, my mother's friend that went to the show, gave me the shirt she bought at the show in 80. It was the biggest size they had at that time, but I NEVER wore it until the Fleetwood Mac show at the Target Center in Minneapoolis on 10-8-1997. I've only worn it 5 other times. Stevie's millenium show in Vegas, the opening and closing nights of the SYW tour, 5-7-03 Columbus, and 9-14-04, Detroit, the First Vegas show in may, and the Red Rocks show in july. I swear i will never forget my mothers friend giving me that shirt. It made me feel as if I had a little memory of those 2 nights, even though I wasnt there in person. Nedless to say, that shirt stays apart from all my other Mac and Stevie shirts. You cant mess with history you know...... Anyway, hope anyone who read this story enjoyed it.

Wow, I went to that tour in New york that year, the same age as you were then ( I was born in 1971), it was my first concert ever and one I will never forget as long as I live. My aunt took me to the Tusk tour,the Belladonna tour, the Mirage tour and the Wildheart tour also.My aunt is a huge Stevie/FM fanatic, bigger than most I have ever met, seen or heard about. She goes to every tour, FM and Stevie, multiple times,in multiple cities and is almost always upfront everytime. She has every original poster ,shirt or tourbook ever put out dating back to the white album and every record Stevie or other Mac members have ever been on, including soundtracks! She was almost on Vh1's fanatic, but time constraints prevented her from doing it. She introduced me to the music of my idols at the tender age of four and its been a love affair ever since. I played the original BN album over and over on her record player,along with the white album and Rumours. We watched the first telecast of Stevies HBO special together and I watched every single rerun with tears in my eyes. We screamed and cried together at those concerts. It was one of the best feelings ever in the world.Thanks for sharing this story, you really made me feel the nostalgia tonight. BTW I like the 2 new pics you added on!

I wanted to add that my aunt is jealous that I was front row at Storytellers and got to ask Stevie a question. Quote from my aunt " You were at the ultimate Stevie show"! This from a woman who has traveled to many AHI shows to talk to Stevie and get autographs and has shaken her hands at the shows more times than I can count! My breif hug and embarrasing question at Storytellers cannot compare to the lifetime devotion this woman has for Stevie! Not to mention the broke bank account!LOL

My mother had the same reasoning only thing is that I was 14 at the time. But guess what? I went anyway to both shows at the Garden. Me and about 8 friends hopped on the train from Brooklyn into the city to see them. It was like a little adventure. I was taking the train to school but this was at night and it was Fleetwood Mac The day after the first show my mother said that a woman she worked with went to the show and said the place reeked of pot. I wonder if me and my friends were sitting next to her. All the while Im thinking, "Im going back again tonight". We were actually in the 8th row for both nights, thanks to my friend Lisa whose dad was, well lets just say he had friends. . Its funny because we were so close and we were smoking joints like cigarettes and security did nothing. I remember the sound of the band was thunderous, very bass heavy and Lindsey was a maniac. It also seemed like Stevie changed her outfit for every other song. Rhiannon was a revelation cuz at this time all I knew was the album version. So when it slowed down and she started moaning and then when she freaked out the place went nuts Some great memories.

My god you guys have some great memories! I wish i was alive then! I also wish that someone in my family was a crazy about Fleetwood Mac & Stevie as i am. Its incredible that you got to be there for all those tours.... i would give anything to have been there My first Stevie concert was the Two Voices tour, i was so excited just to be in the same room with this woman, that everything is kinda hazy .... did that happen to anyone who saw them/her for the first time? Anyways, thanks for sharing.

Yes there was nothing like those shows during those years, especially Stevie during the the FM shows. What stands out most in my mind are 2 things - the first during SOTM, when it slows down at the end and then picks up and Stevie is screaming with her fists in the air and the house lights are up and the audience is freaking out. The second is how the lights would go down and she would be knealing, practically laying on the stage with her head down , sometimes with the tophat and everyone in the audience would scream out her name. I was a kid who worshiped her in that audience.Those were the days for shows!

Well, I guess I have made up for lost time over the last 3 years. I was just thinking about how when I met Mick and you see that pictue of me and him there, I have my sunglasses on because I was crying. Not because I was in awe of him, but I told him I was so grateful for him working so hard to keep Fleetwood Mac together over the years so I could get a chance to see them live. I was really emotional about that.

And the thing was is that he really appriciated it.You could tell by the way he said thank you. That made me feel good.
