I've gone on a Cher downloading rampage to my ipod. God help me now!

I just found the We All Sleep Alone remix. How lucky can one girl get?

Wow Michael Bolton wrote I found Someone and Jon Bon Jovi wrote We All Sleep Alone. I had no clue!

Does she write any of her own songs? All the songs on her albums from the 80's seem to be written by other people.

My favorite Cher song, and my favorite version of it.

You had several others on your list that I love (especially "Love And Understanding")... I guess I should have done an "honorable mentions" thing!

She's written/co-written some of her own songs here and there, but the bulk of her material is written by other songwriters.

Because Stevie writes so much of her own music and is such a prolific sonngwriter and being that I'm a huge fan of hers I respect people as artists so much more when they write their own stuff. Oh well for Cher, she's got other things going I guess.

I never hold it against a singer when they don't write their own music.
The "great ones" like Frank Sinatra rarely ever wrote any of their own material.

And some of my favorite female singers, like Tina Turner and Bonnie Tyler, have only written a few of their own songs over the years.

Some folks are "just" singers, while others are singer/songwriters.

You are soooo right about that. That's why I love these discussions because I can get other people's insight. Does Babs write her own stuff? I'd venture to say not.
