Default Entering the 20th Century....

Okay, the last person on earth who doesn't have a cell phone, me, is thinking of getting one. I have seen the great video/photo phones some of you have. What models/ type would you suggest? Any other pointers I should know?

Thanks

For quality and general use, yes, get a digital camera... but as long as you're going to get a cell phone you might as well get one that can take photos. They're about the same price now anyway. I thought it was dumb and unnecessary at first, but it's kinda nice for times when you don't have your camera on you and you want to take a quick snapshot in a restaurant or something. Mine is a pretty basic LG. I haven't had any problems with it.

Haha, that's great.

I have a Motorolla phone, it is a camera phone which I like for the reasons mentioned by Tiff. I just got it so I'm still learning how to use it. I switched to Verizon last month because I had to ditch my provider and I always hear good things about them. So far so good, I had to call customer service once and they were pleasant, helpful, and effective. Whoa!

I currently have a Treo and the camera is crappy but I have cellphone and my work email (since that's a major source of my work) all in one plus an ok camera if the light is right.

I'd love to get one of the new Motorola Razr phones - maybe the limited edition pink one...love it.

Tee hee... about the title of this thread... I believe we're in the 21st century now!

I have a cell phone with a camera - my theory was, why not? It didn't cost any more than the straight phone. It's not great quality (trust me) but it's fun for close up shots with your friends, etc. Don't expect great sharpness or clarity. And don't expect to take great shots at a Stevie Nicks concert - even from the first few rows. I found that out the hard and heartbreakingly way.

My phone's a Motorola - I've been really happy with it. Had it almost a year now.

Don't do it.

Just perfect your eyelash-batting technique (or do lots of glut exercises, whichever will work better for you), and ask to borrow *other* people's cell phones if you absolutely have to call someone.

Use their peak-time highway-robbery-priced minutes instead of your own. And, while you're at it - scream as loudly as you can into the phone while sticking your finger in your free ear. Pretend no one can hear you - no one really cares anyway that you're ruining their movie or dinner or bus ride or quiet conversation, right? And don't forget to shuffle and hop around while staring at the sky looking for a better signal (all the time mumbling about "bars" and such).

Of course, if you're worried about emergencies and such on trips, just get one of the GO phones, stick it in the glovebox and be done with it.

I have a Motorola V220 camera phone - I love it. And it was free, when I upgraded my Cingular account. But everyone's right, I wouldn't depend on the camera for decent pics, although I do have a really cool sunset photo I took as my wallpaper.

You aren't the last person that doesn't have one. I don't have a cell phone either. I just can't afford another bill.

Don't get one. They're like leashes combined with tracking devices.

Refrain!

Wink

yeah I HATE cell phones. I'd rather have my balls in a vice than have one of those things attached to my head.

Plus, they make drivers on the road even worse they already are. I think all peope driving on the road are idiots. You realize everywhere where you go. Just look around you...you see kooks in the grocery store, freaks at the mall...and just think, THOSE people are out driving. Scary huh.

Yes, but I was trying to show that they started in the 20th century. I don't have one. Keep it up and I will get out my "Buggy" whip.

Currently, I don't have a house phone, or a cell phone. or a car. What else don't I have? I might as well be living in the pioneer days....
