Me three! Cry Wolf is a beautiful song and Stevie's delivery is spectacular. I don't understand why more people don't feel this one. Probably one of my top 3 that she didn't write. I finally heard the Laura Brannigan version and Stevie's version blows it out of the water and made me appriciate the song even more.

Me four! This was the only song I liked at first listen on OSOTM. I like lots of other songs on there now, but still. Lots of people really don't like it, though. I think that's strange, it's a very simple, straightfoward, pretty song.
I like Branigan's version a smidge better, though. To my ears, it has more quiet pathos.

Really? I'm shocked. I listened to the both of them back to back last night and here was my assessment - The keyboards in Laura's version are so much cheesier, if that makes sense. The production on Stevie's sounds a lot more professional to me and they seemed to have done more with the song. Vocally there is no comparison in my mind. Stevie sings it with such conviction. I really feel like she is singing this song with a certain person in mind and perhaps that is why she picked it to be on her album. I didn't get that feeling from Laura. Maybe I'm just a little biased here . Interesting to hear that you like Laura's better.

Either way the song is simply divine and I'm so glad you love it as well. Wish more people did.

Ha, i think the production in stevie's version is much cheesier. They did do more, both production wise and vocally - In this case I think I just think less is more. But I love them both. I love the way Stevie sings "Waaaaaaaaahnce to often", whereas Laura merely sings "Oooooonce to often"
