Default carly simon

So, what do you guys think of Carly Simon? I have a best of sort of album of hers and she has some GREAT songs on it, but some MAJOR boners on it too. I find that she either nails it (a la You're So Vain) or absolutely bombs, like skip worthy bombs. Anyone agree or am I so lame, I probably think this song is about me?

+50.
Can't speak knowledgeably about Carly Simon, but from what I have heard, I suspect you may have something, there.

You're so lame.

I think Carly is one of the greatest, I love her. Most of her albums are fantastic, there are only a couple of stinkers. The Bedroom Tapes, Letters Never Sent, Coming Around Again, and Anticipation are my favorites.

Oh, and the Working Girl soundtrack. She won a well-deserved Osacar for that song.

Yeah, seriously, I LOVE two songs, like two or three more songs and want to shoot myself in the face when I hear the rest!

Hmmm... maybe I should buy some actual albums then. 'Cause the greatest hits one (I'm listening to it right now) has a lot of meandering songs that are supposed to be hits. I find elements of her songs to really work, but she tends to warble and wander a lot.

I LOVE Carly Simon. Yes, she does have some stinkers. But don't most artists? I think "Hold What You've Got" or whatever it's called is pretty awful. As for the songs on the Best of CD, I don't really like "Mockingbird," though I did when I was a kid. I don't know if we're talking about the same album or not. I love her Playing Possum CD.

Maybe you should listen to it a bit more. A lot of songs I really like now, I didn't like at all at first, it took awhile for them to grow on me. Also, some will still suck. Also, Diss is right about the Working Girl soundtrack.

TOTALLY! I love that film too. That is the only role I have ever liked Melanie Griffith in. She nailed that performance!

I like some of her stuff... her voice is a bit weak though. Ever hear the story about her and a drunk Chrissy Hynde in a cat fight at a Joni Mitchell show?
