Wow, I love the Carpenters, I never find them irritating and at heart I'm a punk rock chick.
My favourite song of theirs is Superstar.

I agree. Karen's voice was just so pure.

Oops. Apologies in advance to Mary.

It's sooooooooo melodramatic in that 80s way.

I love that song! But on to the issue at hand...

Some contenders for the worst song evah:

Barbie Girl - Aqua

Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus

Forever Young - Rod Stewart (horrible remake which ruined the original for me forever)

Shut Up - Kelly Osbourne (who told this girl she had the right to sing?)

I'll post more....

Umm... that's actually not a remake. The titles and theme are the same but the lyrics are different, although Stewart did split the royalties with Dylan.

Rod Stewart:

May the good lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
Surround you when you’re far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you’d have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you’ll always stay
Forever young, forever young
Forever young, forever young

May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
With a prince or a vagabond

And may you never love in vain
And in my heart you will remain
Forever young, forever young
Forever young, forever young
Forever young
Forever young

And when you finally fly away
I’ll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell

But whatever road you choose
I’m right behind you, win or lose
Forever young, forever young
Forever young ,forever young
Forever young, forever young
For, forever young, forever young

Bob Dylan:

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

Fair enough. I'll call it a copy. I still hate it.

"Turn the Page" by Bob Seger, hands down. Words cannot describe how much I loathe that song.

Fair enough. I still love it. Next to "Rhythm of My Heart," it's my favorite Rod Stewart song. Loved it since I was little.

And to think, at one time I actually respected your taste in music.

Honey, that song is the most self-indulgent, ridiculous, heinous piece of **** I've ever had the misfortune of hearing. It hurts my everything and always has. What bothers me even more is that it's so popular.

I have a "Final Countdown" ringtone on my cellphone. I'm constantly missing calls because I do the Gob dance (from Arrested Development) when it starts to play and I get distracted.

I just don't see how anybody could put that song in the same category as turds like "Rico Suave," "Achy Breaky Heart," and "Macarena."

And for the record, "Turn the Page" is my all time favorite Bob Seger song and I will NEVER forgive Metallica for ruining it.

That one's pretty bad. I'd still go with Dead Skunk In The Middle Of The Road.
