I am not that wild about them, though I like the song about the chick who knoks on the door after midnight "ready to go" - other than that, they sounded to me like what they were - a really good garage band. As an aside, I thought their lyrics were really good and some even great.

90's music was just so strange to me because the 70's were soooo heavy and then disco. The 80's went from punk to discoelectronica with heavy metal hair bands in the mix. Then, grunge and boy and girl bands, which I though amateurish in comparison.

But, there was some greatness and here is my take.

Madonna - Bedtime Stories/Erotica/Ray Of Light - all so bold

R.E.M. - Out Of Time - the end of an era for them and it went on a high note

Jewel - Pieces Of You - the poster girl for those minor voiced girls that worshipped La Nicks and I LOVED her yodelling

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill - HELL HATH NO FURY

The Cranberries - Everybody Else Is Doing It.... & No Need To Argue - so great and odd

Depeche Mode - Violator - his voice anyones me to no end on the slow stuff - but Policy of Truth and others are sooooo good

Fiona Apple - Tidal - angry young girl who was musically brilliant on the piano

Finally -

Annie Lennox - Diva there will never ever be another one like her, they broke the mold - personally, this marked the end of an era for me, my memories of that time are so fond and she is singing in much of the background. To my dear friends then, some of whom are dead, I cry for you when I hear this record and I cry with happiness - I miss them terribly. I can still see us driving or sitting around singing "Keep Young and Beautiful" and laughing about the wave in our hair. Also, my best friend came over one afternoon while visiting town and while I was helping her prepare dinner, she put in this "new" record and "Why" came on. We both stopped and looked at each other slackjawed to the floor and were silent in awe - those were the happiest days of my life, which has been a happy one

Annie Lenox - Medusa - two in a row, what a woman and I will never forget "No More "I Love You's"

My personal favorite is "Train In Vain". That is one brilliant cover, possibly the best song she ever recorded as a solo artist.

Who would have thought she could take a song from The Clash and turn it into such an amazing thing? It knocks me out every time. That whole album does, but I think it's her best one, anyway. She's one of the greats.

I love her so much it hurts sometimes. I still remember when Sweet Dreams came out and I just about died, esp. when she was walking with that bass in the that field. And - do not get me started again on how BEAUTIFUL Here Comes the Rain Again is, esp. the video and the fact that I played Love is a Stranger everyday for like three months on the way to high school. LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, I was WAY obsessed with the Spice Girls back in 1997/98. I remember the night their movie came out, my friend and I went and saw it, and then another 4 times in the following weeks.
