Maybe it's not so much 'disliking Stevie' as much as it is actually 'liking Lindsey more', or is that a crime in your book too?
Or is this just another opportunity for some Stevie fans to wallow in collective self-pity, "those buckheads are so meeeeeaaann!!!"
Absolutely not, Mari. I have never said, or even felt, that everyone around here should love Stevie.
I just think it's more than a little unreasonable, with all due respect, for Lindsey fans to vent their frustrations towards her for the lack of material and/or tours from him.

Really, Stevie's singing on two songs on 'Soundstage,' which, totalled together, will probably only take up a mere 8 minutes in a 60 minute broadcast. And they're only harmony vocals at that. It's not like she hi-jacked Lindsey's performance to sing her own songs. He's still the star of the show.

And, hey, if people do tune in just because Stevie's there, but come away from it with a new-found appreciation for Lindsey (the benefit of which, is that it increases the likelyhood of stronger sales for his album, and, hopefully a solo tour) -- isn't that a great thing?

The sad fact of the matter is that Lindsey's not a big enough "name" to draw people in. As I said to Mari, if Stevie's presence is required to get people to tune in, so be it -- because it gives Lindsey an opportunity to reach, and impress, an even bigger audience than he would have without her.
In the longrun, that benefits his fans.

The idea that her presence for a measly 7 or 8 minutes of harmony vocals somehow prevents it from being his show, is ridiculous. She'll be on and gone in a flash. The rest will be pure, unadulterated Buckingham.

From all reports, Lindsey asked her to be there... it's not like she forced her way on stage. She did a sweet favor for her friend and bandmate.

When PBS gives Ron Isley, Peter Cetera, and George Jones their own Soundstage shows, that argument holds no water.

For cripes sake, we're talking about PBS here, not ABC.

No one ever said her appearance "prevents it from being his show," people simply said that they would prefer an entirely solo Lindsey show. What posts are you reading?

Your point? I don't give a rat's ass. The fact remains that I want to see him, not her. She can do all the "sweet favors" in the world for him, it still doesn't mean I care to see her stout self at what could possibly be the last solo show he ever plays.

Ron, Pete and George were pretty big names in their respective genres. "Lindsey Buckingham" has never been a recognizable name outside of Fleetwood Mac.

But that's exactly my point -- how is it not still entirely Lindsey's show?
If Brian Wilson had wandered out on stage... wouldn't it still be Lindsey's show? I'd venture to say that nary a soul would complain about it.

Your only issue is that it's Stevie.

But as I said, she's singing harmony vocals on two short little songs. That's all. Nothing more.
Why on Earth is that worth grousing about?

I guess it sucks to be you then. But be sure to take up all future complaints about his lack of performances with Mr. Eraserhead personally.

Oh, and be sure to chuck something at the screen everytime they show Stevie on Soundstage -- maybe it'll make you feel better.

Aww. I'm sorry you missed out on seeing this performance live, Christy, but don't worry too much. This IS going to air, and I have a feeling Lindsey WILL tour again.

All is never lost.

Heart Thanks JS...

I know, I'm just feeling sorry for myself. LOL I thought about this last night before I went to sleep and how I missed out. The thing is...this show happened in what, March 2003? Back then, I was in the mindset that I couldn't go on my own anywhere (I'm an only child, and my mom is VERY overprotective), even though Seteca was like "Why don't you go?!" and I was all "I can't go by myself." and then, when they announced the England shows, I went "Like h*ll I can't go by myself, I'm not missing THIS opportunity!! Mom will have to deal." So, I go to England alone and since then, I've gone to the Woodlands show AND to see Justin Guarini down in Beaumont. I may be almost 30, but sometimes, I feel 12. It's like pulling teeth with my mother about things. We fight all the time about me going alone. I understand where she comes from, but I need to get out and away from her wing, ya know? She doesn't understand that. Everytime I wanna go do something, she mentions having to work, and I say "My point is....I wanna do this myself, mom." It's not that I don't wanna do stuff with her, I see her a lot and we get together all the time. I just don't want it to be 100% of the time, I have friends who I wanna hang out with too, ya know?

My mom grew up with a hateful mother, and I know she doesn't wanna be like her. She and her mother are NOT close, and she wants to be close with me because of that...I understand that. I just feel smothered sometimes.

Sorry about the rant, I just needed to vent, I guess.

Ah, yes. Ron, Pete, and George are going to pull in much bigger audiences at 1:30am on PBS than Lindsey Buckingham would at 1:30am on PBS. Give me a break.

You fail to see my point, yet again. I don't care to see anyone but Lindsey. Get it? We don't get solo shows often, I'd like to have one that's just him and not fodder for the Stevie forum to squeal in orgasmic delight at how "thin as a rail" she looks in her matronly button-down get-ups.

The reality is that the old broad is going to make that appearance on his episode of Soundstage, but it doesn't mean that I, or anyone else, can't express my disappointment that she's going to take up those 8 minutes you love to refer to when we could have been treated to something off of Out of the Cradle or another solo album. We got an entire tour of them singing together and it's been immortalized on DVD, I'm not exactly clamoring for more at the moment.

If you are, that's fine. Enjoy it. I'll probably enjoy "Say Goodbye," myself. But I still would have loved for her to take a hike for this one thing.

I hope you never call me out for condescension; I'll have to refer back to this post of yours.

I'm sure there's a mystyckal & magyckal Stevie lyric out there that you could be interpreting instead of trying to pinpoint what makes me happy and what doesn't.

There you go again, possums. Making it sound as if people are accusing Stevie for Lindsey's lack of performances. I won't even attempt to make sense of that logic.

Nah, she's not worth sullying my television screen for.

Why does this have to turn into a Lindsey vs. Stevie thing, I ask you. I am a Lindsey fan first and foremost and if he did the show without Stevie I would be happy, but if she is there as well I will not complain and I am still happy. Obviously, she is a draw...but if you already know that, and most people already know that, do we have to make a huge deal about it if some Lindsey fans want just him alone?

I am not trying to sound rude, but it just seems that some people always jump to the defense whenever anything, even things not remotely insulting, are said about Stevie. I like her a great deal myself, but not everyone is her biggest fan (same can be said, vice versa about LB). So I do see the point made by people who want just Lindsey and I don't understand why there needs to be a "You Lindsey fans are knocking Stevie" thing made. Sorry...

Oh, and this is not in anyway meant to be an antagonizing post. More an observation. I feel Lindsey is great on his own and should deserve atleast the acknowledgement that, although Stevie may be far more popular, he is still a remarkably brilliant artist whom people do love and would enjoy to see by himself performing either his FM or solo work. That is all. No offense meant whatsoever.

I did see Brian Wilson , less than a month ago. Hm, it would be very interesting to hear LB cover some Beach Boys songs. But I want the solo concert FIRST!

Diss just so you know you have lost many brownie points from me because of that one. It just doesn't seem right to mention George Jones in the same sentence after Ron Isley and *vomit* Peter Cetera. My favourite Sinatra quote ever is that George is the second greatest singer in the world (after himself of course). To country fans George Jones is a God. (btw George is actually one of the biggest selling country artists ever).

Back on topic, I find this argument weird. I'm just glad we're getting a Lindsey concert. If that means he hauls out Stevie for a couple of songs, so be it. You're all like children whining "but I wanted my ice cream with a big cherry on top wah, wah...". Get over it, it's still ice cream m'dears and we're lucky to have it!

I've said it before -- if we over on the Stevie Forum annoy you as badly as you like to make it sound, and if you're as "over" her as you say you are, then you should stop bothering to read or post there. Give Lindsey the attention he deserves here on his forum, and you'd no longer have to be bothered with our inane little conversations!

I still fail to see why it matters so much, when she's just singing a harmony vocal on his songs.
Now, if she had trotted out "Rhiannon" or "Stand Back," I could see where you're coming from.

I didn't say that, so don't put words in my mouth.
In pointing out the absurdity of whining that Stevie has gone and ruined Lindsey's rare chance in the spotlight, I was just reminding you to direct your frustrations at the lack of LB solo shows to the man himself.
