fanfire, fleetwood, and I (longish)

O.K. kiddies, for those of all of you guys that have been following this viscous quagmire that I have been wading through to get the signed tourbook from the show on 9/10/04, I have news. On a total lark, not expecting any answers, I called fanfire again a week ago. Held on for the usual 10mins of the same U2 songs again, got the runaround, on hold again...yadda-yadda. One of the flunkies said someone in ticketing accounts would call me within the hour with info. sceptic tho that I am, what the heck, I had nowhere to go anyway. An hour and a half later I got a call. Amazing, yes? His story was odd and somewhat confusing (perhaps dubious). He went on with this story about how we have this extra signed copy hanging around here...yadda...went through management...yadda...pulling teeth, etc....i will send it. They knew nothing of the Chris Nicks bottleneck. So after six months of "duuuhhhhh" there happens to be a copy lying around that magically shows up and will be spirited to me. Something seems a bit un-kosher here. the running gag at work was, "so fanfire signed you a tourbook, eh?". Just as I was thinking. It did arrive. It had the sony/signature return address, not a fanfire return addy. I will try to scan it and post it on this message for all to see the Stevie signature. always interested in you thoughts as to its authenticity. BUT WAIT....there is more.....Blain from Mick's office called today (3/30/05) out of the total blue. We haven't spoken in months. He said he bypassed some of the usual suspects and got through to the band, member by member and got them to sign me a tourbook. I asked if he has spoken to fanfire, he had not. All he knew is it was something he did personally and the band was not too pleased about all this. What kind of coinkidink (HA!) that I get that call from Blain at this time. It would make even Lewis Carroll's brain itch. Anyway, I will also put an attatchment of those signatures when (if) that copy arrives as well.

ps, posted an image....tell me watcha think about it.....be honest...no fear of offending me....I would love a chance to go after those fanfire creeps.

I'm not the biggest autograph expert - not by far - but I thought her signature was a little more angular. I don't know if that's the right word - but the letters seem to me a bit too rounded. Anyone else?

I just brought out my signed copy of the tourbook and the sigs. look pretty much the same. Who can ever tell though? For all we know, all of the signed tour books could have been done by some intern.

I'm sure it is ligit. If not, then it is just plain fraud and this is a big corp. so I would hope they wouldn't do something that illegal. No matter how slow or annoying Fanfire may be I do not beleive they would forge the autographs. At least, I don't think they would do this for all the tourbooks. If some guy decided to be a jack ass and forge the signitures so you would stop calling I suppose that is possible. But I highly doubt it.

Looks real to me. I usually always examine the "NICKS" because she has made different S's throughout the years. (I know for sure she signed both things with two different style S's) The Nicks in your tourbook looks right to me and so does the Stevie. Either she signed it, or its a pretty good forgery. I really hope Fanfire wouldn't stoop to those levels and it would leave them liable. UNLESS..they had someone like Chris or Lori Nicks sign it. I think Lori writes NICKS exactly like La NIcks...and that is probably no coincidence.

When you say the band was "none too happy" did you mean with the situation or having to sign the book? I am unclear if you are saying the band are disgusted with this whole debaucle or not.
On a sidenote..I never really bought that story that it was Stevie who wasnt signing the tourbook. IF Chris Nicks had been given the book for his sister to sign, I doubt Stevie just wasn't signing it. I never thought she was even aware that there was a problem and people were waiting for her signature. She just doesn't come across as that type of gal, allowing people to pay five hundred bucks for one ticket and a signed book and then balking about taking 2.5 seconds to scrawl her name with a Sharpie. Makes no sense.

I am glad you got a resolution and the reality is that the people who were handed the tourbooks at the show have no more guarantee they were handed authentic sigs, than you do. I think it looks real!

My impression was that the folks in the band were unhappy with fanfire's screw-ups, not that they had to sign more tourbooks.

as far as chris is concerned...I still understand he had recieved the tourbooks according to the folks at sony/signature, it's just that he is too much of a screw-up to actually hand them to Stevie to sign. This story was consistant with several sources at sony/signature, not to mention his M.O.
Stevie was most likely unaware of the issue.

What grinds my gears about all this is that this is the band's only interface with us. thier "fanclub" is a sad, angering misrepresentation of the band. I do believe that the band is not a hard, cold indifferent bunch of people that look at us as a bunch of wallets. All this being said, ultimate responsability does fall on the band.....but damn....we are stuck with eachother....nothing I can do about that....I think you all can dig this sentiment.

It looks about the same as mine. I got mine in the 80s....the S and N are really different, but other than that, it looks fairly real.

Looks real to me. I have a banner above my computer that the band signed in front of me, and the N and the k in Nicks look spot on- the fakes normally don't get them right.

They probably just filed one tourbook away and didn't find it until they finally got rid of all their FM merchandise now that the tour is well over.

Perhaps, but I feel that six months is a bit much, especially after numerous calls to them that yielded little to no information as to the status of the item. Most of what I got was confusion, "call back in a month", "we will fill out forms"....etc. The only progress I made was in calling the parent company, Signature. After passing through the system there, I found out that the books bogged down in the hands of Chris Nicks. He had them. According to Signature, that was the holdup. All we were waiting for was for him to hand them to her. The news from Blain at Mick's was that they bypassed everyone and went to the sources for the signatures. Your hypothesis may be true, but that would be a less excusable explanation than what I got from sony/signature...but thanx for noting a possibility.

Looks good to me. It also depends on the situation in which they sign. If they are in a hurry, the signature is really sloppy. I got Lindsey's autograph from the stage and all you can make out is the "L" in his first name. On the other hand, remember the Mac Quiz on FleetwoodMac.com late 2003 or early 2004? Well, thru Fanfire I won the autographed flat of the Say You Will cover autographed by the whole band. On that one, you can make out Lindsey's name pretty well.

I have Stevie Nicks' autograph on 3 different things and they all look slightly different but yours DOES look like hers.

That's true. I have two things I got Lindsey to sign during his '93 tour and have often thought that if I ever tried to sell them, no one would ever believe he signed them!

I was at the the Sept show at Michigan in 2004 and had the same package. I did get my autographed tourbooks, after about a month of complaining and calling them EVERY day. I was pissed!!! They were supposed to hand them out to us there, and to me, I thought it was pretty much of a scam, charging $500.00 for a lousy backstage tour, which our "tour guide" wouldn't let us even watch the soundcheck, and then to not come through with the signed books, my husband was NOT very happy with me about that. Anyways, your signature looks very similar as both of my books that I received, so if yours isn't real, then mine aren't either.

I am hoping that FM gets somebody else other than fanfire if they will be touring again. I have no problem paying $500 or even $1000.00 if I would have the opportunity to meet Lindsey !! Not to even get a glimpse of the band just really sucks for that kind of money !!

Glad you finally (!!!!) got your signed tourbook. I don't buy stuff that is pre-autographed. I wanna get it myself or not at all. That way, I am 100% guaranteed it's legit.

The problem is that you won't know until after you shell out the money. In fact, you won't ever know whether you can rely on a fan club to meet obligations until after you pay them.

In that light, isn't the safest, cheapest & therefore wisest course of action just to have nothing to do with any Fleetwood Mac fan clubs, current or future?

How many times does a rotten fan club representing Fleetwood Mac have to burn hundreds of people before those people refuse to join? Five times? Ten? We're just about there already, aren't we?
