If I let it, this will totally ruin my day. What a cop out! Oh, Stevie, I am so disappointed with you right now.

I don't know how I feel about this article. It seems rather depressing overall. While I think Stevie must feel some pressure about sales, etc., I agree that it has (or was supposed to be) about sharing her music with the world and giving us an "escape". Maybe she's been focusing on the business part of it too much, who knows. I think we've all learned to take these interviews with a grain of salt and move on. You can never tell what will actually take place.

As far as meet and greets, I'd like to know how in the hell you get to be part of that. That pricks me a little.

I do love that she does the handshake at the end of EO17 because it really sets her apart from other performers. And her comments about the soldiers was really nice.

A new album wouldn't ruin her financially. Go to an small label like Sanctuary and have them release it for you. Easy as pie.

Plus she got some pretty good reviews from Shangri-la and Say You Will, maybe she just wants to leave the party while it's still a good one, not after it's too late. I'd love a new record, but I understand not wanting to risk her livelihood and respect in her field.
I personally don't think that if Stevie released an album that didn't sell well it would effect her standing on the live circuit at all. I bet plenty of people on the SYW tour hadn't bought that album. As long as she plays the old standards (Dreams etc) I don't think she has a worry about getting people to come and see her. A poor selling album wouldn't risk her livelihood at all IMO.

I agree. But really I think Stevie's always been about making money from rock-n-roll and not about taking risks. Delivering messages to fans was nice and probably what she's most touched by, but "fortune is her life's love".

Absolutely. It's the same venues every freaking year. There are other states than Jersey, PA, Florida, and CA.

Who is feeding this crap to her anyway? Stevie is never gonna be big with your average 12 year old again, she should just deal with it.
Her reaction seems to be, I'll become a nostalgia act, touring my old songs into the ground, rather than continuing to make new and artistic music. It's bull****. It makes me so sad she's essentially choosing money (which she'll no doubt make as a live act) over the artistic option (which is making music she loves no matter how well it sells).
Stevie, what has happened to you?
Precisely. Now I'm worried that we'll never get a proper version of Space Needle.

One would think that at this stage in her career, where she isn't selling millions of records but has an incredibly loyal fan base, that she would essentially say f*ck it and continue with her artistry like so many other artists her age do. You know, do something she always wanted to do but didn't because she had to worry about how it would affect sales. Record what she wants to record and get on with it. Take the high road, don't wilt and die just because record sales aren't up to snuff.

I absolutely agree. Do more shows at the House of Blues or the Whiskey or something. Lots of cool places to go. It would be so cool if she would open herself up to another audience and do smaller venues.

Come on, don't start with the whole "this is somebody else controlling her" theory. Are we ever going to accept that she makes her own decisions? She's been exposed so many times for the material girl she is by Fleetwood Mac and by her own comments. She likes money, fancy cars and big houses. IT'S OLD NEWS. She's not perfect, but she's nobody's robot.

Very true. I just find it sad that now that she's older and won't make the money that she once did selling records, she won't bother anymore. I hope it isn't the case, but if it is, she needs to take a cue from people like Neil Young and Emmylou Harris. People who don't sell millions anymore, embrace it, and take it as an opportunity to do what they want to do and to hell with everyone else.

I bet they won't play the new Paul McCartney album or the new Neil Young album on the radio either. Stevie should realise she's in a different league now; it's not about hit singles and MTV rotation for older artists because their audience isn't teenyboppers and it never will be, no matter what the music is like.
I think she will record another album again... I think she's just making a statement about the music industry and the state it's in... and to make it really dramatic she says she won't record an album again... Kind of like what Joni Mitchell has done.. Except Joni really won't do another album...

yeppers! She can't stop being creative. If she's burnt out on albums right now, why not get a book out or some drawings or something.

Egads... I guess the Rhiannon album (or was it project?) mentioned a while ago was just another mirage or rumour... (apologies for the atrocious puns).

Then again I wouldn't put too much faith in this article. It's not like Stevie hasn't had doubts before. All she needs right now is a dinner with Tom Petty to set her straight on this "album sales" issue. Maybe we could even get a song out of it

I never said someone else is controlling her. I simply said it seems odd for her to go on and on about sales instead of about how she wants to produce solid music. It just seemed so not Stevie. I was trying to say it was as if someone was feeding her crap about album sales, etc. Don't turn my comments around and get hostile.
