Anyone out there in a relationship and has thought about being single again?

*RAISES HAND*

That wasn't a choice in the poll . . .

Ah, that's me as well. I've been with my BF for 5 years and I really love him, but OMG do we fight constantly. Lately he's been way too controlling/jealous. Basically, he thinks every guy friend I have I'm sleeping with. Despite the fact that most of them are gay.

Damn him and his irresistible English accent anyway.

Aww. actually your Dad seemed cute and sweet. He is young compared to my Dad who will be 79 tomorrow. It is very hard to meet someone when you don't like to go out. LOL
I have to laugh because I think to myself how am I going to meet anyone and my first date was with a guy who came to fix our fridge.
I am not that great socially either and actually when I do go out all that I think about is the fact that I can't wait to come home and go online. I don't mean dating either just being out with friends and I have one friend who will say to me 'what is the matter? You want to go home and play on that darn thing, right?" Of course they are right.

I love that song! It was the one that first introduced me to his music.

My current situation is not one that I ever expected to find myself in . . . let's just say that I need to find an Al-Anon group . .

My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 8 years. We've been living together for about 4. It's really weird because many of my friends are getting married and having children and I'm so not ready for any of that. We (boyfriend and me) have discussed it, and we both decided whenever the time is right we'll know and there won't be a question about it.

It's a little depressing to watch these programs where they go over the statistics of unmarried couples living together. The probablity of separation and divorce being higher...plus your friends who are married/getting married/have or are having kids begin speaking in condescending tones regarding your relationship.

Plus my mom! Dammit, she's the worse: "You really need to be contemplating your future and thinking about marriage already...you are 24 and you aren't a child anymore, and you need to start being serious about your life for one moment and blah, blah, blah..." Most of the time I feel like I get that "look-at-you-filthy-fornicating-immoral-little-tramp-why-can't-you-be-decent-and-honor-your-parents" look from my parents' friends. It 'aint easy I tell you...

(And it doesn't help when my little brother- who is 20 for gawdsakes-is married with a child. I mean, sheesh!)

People need to get it out of their heads that a couple can't be happy and complete without being married. I'll be glad when that out-of-style viewpoint is gone, though I don't know if it ever will be gone completely.

I don't know your parents' friends but I think it's plainly idiotic for them to look down on someone like you.

Yes!! People should just get a clue that we are living in a different time and stop getting all uptight and fussy about other people's lives. I'm at a point in my life where I really feel good but I'm not ready to take any steps or leaps or any of that crap...I'm happy at the here and now and I feel like having a few big adventures before tying myself down completely.

And I honestly feel that anyone out there who is single or isn't ready to marry should not have to feel bad about it in any way. Life is far too short to let meddling old hags and whatnot bother you. K, that was mean, but still...I mean it.

How depressing.

I was in a 3 year on and off relationship that finally ended for good over a year ago... I know that this is the one that I'll never get over. I've dated a couple of times since then but I haven't felt that same connection.

and

i just sorta get it when i need it. don't do dating or relationships really.

Does that make sense?
