Come on guys - I know you are home from the concert! I need to know how she was tonight. Please oh please get to posting!
I promise, I won't go to bed tomorrow night until I post here how Dallas went. Like I can sleep after a Stevie concert - but still. I can't wait to hear from you Houston. Love, Patty |

I talked to some friends who attended the show. They said it was good...Stevie was normal, appeared happy and into the show but looked tired, per usual. They mentioned her crying during Circle Dance and she said that the song "reminds her of her Dad". Edge..she mouthed "I still need you or I need you" over and over at the end. GDW had some very bizarre head holding, spinning action from Stevie that they will have to describe. They said it was weird and Stevie looked sort of out of it. There were No adlibs at the end...she never came back to the mic to do the "shadows, save me bit". Both friends stressed how freaky the head holding spinning action looked.
Uh, hmm....Sorcerer was tame and not sexual tonight. Rhiannon was great and Stevie seemed into it. They both thought it was a good show, along par with Vegas. Stevie was doing her thing. Oh, yea...long extended sensual hula dancing during some song..OTR maybe? Described as very sensual and alluring, with Stevie totally getting into it. Anyway..that is a recap via friends.

A few more things i remembered. Landslide. Stevie looked at Waddy, laughed and said "I am not going to do it tonight". she then proceeded to tell the audience they now call it the "cat song". Has Anyone was particularly moving according to both...with Stevie introducing it by saying her life was a mess when she wrote it and she wrote it "for someone" but the story would take "two hours to tell". She sang it with passion and apparently there is some nice new artwork up during the song. A lady in a forest scene..for those who care.
My one friend seemed to think that Stevie wanted to audience to see the skeleton photo and even appeared to point at it while singing the "master" lines. Yea, she did the hand thing too.

Every song was perfection. Some friends on the lawn said the reserved secton were all standing. I know I didn't sit down all night. All in all a great Stevie night. I just wish it could have lasted longer. |

It's 3:30 & I haven't been home for ten minutes. I won't be too coherent, but since you asked.
I was front row at the Houston show & it was great. Random thoughts are easiest, so here are THe Good, The Bad, And The Breastly: - This is the easiest the Woodlands has ever been in my experience. Getting in & out were no problem. Parking was easy. - The tees are not too great, IMO. There's a girl's shirt that says "Stand Back" & I would love a guy's tee with the same words on the front. The Leather & Lace shirt has style but has the photo from the single, which I never cared for. They sold out of mugs. The tourbook is fair, though I love the photo of Stevie in pants. - We arrived early & we heard what I was pretty sure was the last part of Stevie's soundcheck, which was If Anyone Falls. A couple of people working there had the same thought, but by the time we reached the Pavillion, it was Vanssa's soundcheck. - Harry, the security guy in the front of the pit, said he saw Stevie on TWH and Mirage Tours, and that he was amazed at how great she looked & sounded on this soundcheck. - The air conditioning in the pit was wonderful. Harry explained that the symphony (which sometimes plays there) has a policy that if the temp goes above a certain point, any musician can leave the venue without penalty, and we were all the luckier for it. Houston has been pretty rainy this week - though not really the day of the concert - and while the outside high temp was only in the 80s (much cooler than it has been in a long time), it was really humid. - The volume was just right in the pit. - The venue looked really packed from what I could see. Until ten minutes before Vanessa my friend & I were alone in the front row, but by Stevie the place seemed filled. I could see no grass on the lawn from where I was. I thought the crowd was great. Appropriate, enthusiastic, well-behaved. - Vanessa Carlton messed up during a song, stopped, & said "I just f***ed up the song! I've played it a million times & this is only the second time I've ever f***ed it up." There was a lot of laughing. - Rhiannon was GREAT. Loved it tonight. - Dreams was good - I wasn't bored this time. I like the arrangement a lot. - The first half of Fall From Grace sounded very choppy to me, like the vocals were a pace behind. It's hard to explain, but it reminded me of Freedom, a song I love, but for FFG it sounded off. - Stevie did cover her face after Circle Dance. Was emotional. The performance was solid. - Same old complaint, Stevie didn't move much until a few songs into the set. - SDMHA was MUCH better than on the TISL Tour. - Jana looked amazing & I got a few smiles from her & Taku. Sharon is awesome, but if Stevie has The Two Birds Of Rhiannon aflutter, Sharon has The Two Brontosaurus Eggs Of Melacine a'hatching. From my seat they were prominent features. My friend said Jana & Sharon looked like the before & after pics of implant surgery. I've seen Sharon on many tours, but this was the most noticeable her figure has ever been. - Stand Back rocked & had a good kick, but the spins were much slower than on the recent Mac tour. - Of course Rock & Roll was amazing. Stevie's dance moves were fun. - HAEWAFY - I was surprised that Stevie did not mention the One Campaign. - The visuals during Sorcerer & Landslide were good, but Stand Back & GDW need much better visuals. For crying out loud, there are two Stand Back videos, get some clips up there! - There were a number of small children in the pit. - The guy three seats down from me said this was his fifth time seeing Stevie. He was asking all of us how much we paid, realizing he got screwed paying $2,000 for two tickets this time. - I was surprised to see Al do the back-up vocal next to Jana on Beauty & The Beast. - I am glad that Stevie is no longer doing that tired hand thing at the end of GDW. - I saw Livia & met Travis & Kortni briefly. Cliffie, I asked for you but we missed each other. - My friend Risha has really long hair & in the lighting I noticed she looked like Stevie in the SOTM from the Tusk doc. I had the feeling she & Stevie might connect. Stevie got to me during the Edgewalk - yes, she did clasp my hands, marking the first time she touched me (in public ). But damn my finely tuned Audubon sensibilities because as she leaned towards me my eyes went straight to the birds - such fine starlings - and very noticeably. She gave me an "Oh, brother!" look & let go, then clasped Risha's hands for several seconds, gazing straight into her eyes, & I think Stevie said something about her hair. Risha didn't say anything & Stevie just looked at her, nodding, & then moved on. Risha couldn't hear what was said either, but her mind was on how soft Stevie's hands are anyway.- Early in the set Carlos tossed a pick (I think) into the pit. - The people near me were amazed that we were allowed to touch the stage. One guy said he saw Rush from the front row & security kept him back from the stage. It is clear that, as always, Stevie's graciousness, is winning over many casual fans. The Edgewalk, the thanking of the band, the close proximity - all were commented on. - I don't care how often I see them, those Reeblechs is uh-gleee. - EVERYBODY thought she looked great in the pants. - Jake

Oh yeah, Stevie explained that Landslide is the cat song because it seems to have had nine lives. Then she meowed & clawed at the air. I am not making this up. Now I am wondering which song is her Yorkie song.

Jake pretty much covered it all...well said. I'll reiterate from other posts that the GDW catatonic head holding was weird....but very cool.
Hey JJ....my name's Travis, and yes, we had a blast up at the stage. I'm just glad that security didn't throw you out!!! And that was my friend Kevin who lifted you up...we've been talking about it all day. And yes....I touched the Godess!!! She grabbed my hands on two different occassions, and this chick is GORGEOUS up close. She's is just way more beautiful than any picture I've ever seen. And she looked DAMN fine in the those pants!! She needs to wear them more. I think they must have given her some mystical energy because she really tore up Rock and Roll after what I thought was a mediocre performance in her standard black dress. Oh, and I touched BOTH of the Frakenboots. Woo hoo!!!! |

BTW, I really don't like the extended running through the shadows repetitions at the end of GDW - recalls the unpleasant Mask version IMO. - Jake

Alright, who all did I meet last night? Jake and Travis, you two seem familiar, I ended up calling Livia right as she was walking past me, and I remember Tracye (sp?) but I don't remember her username. Who was the guy in the orange that I ended up chatting with behind the soundboard before Stevie's set? I met a lot of people last night and no sooner than I was introduced to one person I was shaking hands with another. If there's some big get together before the show next time, I'm all for it -- I'd love to meet you guys and get to know you rather than having to just meet and run.
I thought about writing a review late last night, but I decided against it because I can't tell you much about what Stevie did... I had a perfect view of Brett all night and he had all my attention. I have like 40 pictures and about four of them are of Stevie... they're distant shots though, and I haven't looked at them all... some of them are blurry, but if any of them come out clear, I'll post them for you guys. I don't know if you guys would want all the Brett pics I took... ![]()
