Oh. Thanks for that info. I'll have to try and see the whole thing sometime.....does it get funny? Or just "spacey" and "out there"?

You are right though, the drug use did become more frequent towards the 80s..... very hyper early on, but by RAL, she did seem more boozed up. I just think some people would rather not even acknowledge the drugs (even though its quite apparent), because it can be painful & disturbing . IMO, the whole image is very sad.... reminding me of Joplin...she was very lonely, no one would love her, & then ODs at 27. It freaks me out a little, knowing that could have happened to Stevie. Makes me wonder why no one tried to knock some sense into her early on

Just a little Joplin factoid- I think it's Myra Friedman's book that states that Joplin was pregnant when she OD'd.
With respect to RAL, I agree with you. I think she was using the booze to offset/balance the effects of the coke.

She is as vulnerable as the next guy. People sometimes have this image of Stevie, that she is perfect, that she does not struggle from the same traps the average person does. People see her getting up on stage with the mass adulation of so many fans and think that means Stevie should have all the confidence in the world.
Well said. In fact, I think being famous probably makes Stevie even more vulnerable to certain traps/bad habits than folks who live their life under the radar.

[QUOTE=GypsyNomad]I'm not sure if I would want to see the whole photo shoot though. As much as I love stuff like that, if its a little disturbing with the drugs & everthing, I think I'll pass (I've got family members who were/are substance abusers & I think it would just upset me a little )

Sorry to hear about that. That's hard to see loved ones go through. I hope you yourself are doing great. Blessings to you!

Maybe she just had a few drinks? A youthful buzz from a little wine or something with the girls? We can hope, anyways, right?

I didn't know originally that people were talking about the whole video. I just didn't see anything in her behavior from this little clip posted here that showed anything coked-out or high or unusual. Now I understand though, a few of you have mentioned seeing the whole entire thing and so have that in your mind when saying how high she was. So now I get where the thought came from - from seeing the whole video of it. Thanks for filling me in about it.

I don't try to forget her history. But she wasn't high all the time back then. And she always seems very excited, happy, easily amused (the fish in the Destiny Rules documentary, etc.). And I'm the same way. I never used drugs, never even tried them, yet had that "aura" when I was younger by some people who didn't know me well. Even now, I don't think I go a day or so without some major laughing fest where my stomach aches and my eyes are watering. Hubby and I get a lot of laughs out of life. And when I get into something, I get really into it. And when in a good mood and on a roll, I can talk and talk and talk...... (yet other times and very quiet). So - go figure. But it's all au' naturelle! I'm just weird.

I find a lot of the RS Photo Shoot video boring. Maybe it's because the quality of the video is so poor and it's hard to see. Does everyone else have crappy quality too? I do love the parts where Stevie is singing along to Tom Petty and the Rolling Stones. She sounds great.

"Can't Go Back" was probably not even titled yet. It was probably just one of a bunch of instrumental tracks lying around, or being worked on slowly, that Lindsey recorded. The band was still at larrabee working on "Mirage" & they had a long way to go. At the time, Lindsey said that a bunch of instrumental tracks or lyrics were sort of circulating among the three writers: they'd borrow one another's work & take & adapt what they needed or wanted.

Stevie was apparently doing her photo shoot with Annie & brought along the Mirage tapes for listening & partying.

yeah, I have a copy right from Maureen & it's not very clear. It's about on par with the Gypsy video behind-the-scenes stuff.

Thank goodness the behind-the-scenes stuff from the Japan 1977 tour is a lot cleaner.

Thanks Barbara. I have the other stuff on that though, like the Civil War Stand Back, Jay Leno appearances, too. So I'll try to find a video/dvd that has other stuff on it, along with this WIld Heart clip. In my younger days I'd pay $29 to get a clip I was dying for. But now I must be conservative and frugal with my spending - lol! Thank you very much for the offer though. That was really sweet of you.

If anyone wants to trade who has this Wild Heart, photo session on video or dvd, please let me know. Thanks so much.

Hearing this little clip of her singing this, wouldn't it'd be great for her to re-do Wild Heart as an "unplugged" song with great harmonies by her back-up singers, and do it live? Waddy on acoustic. Maybe some piano? Maybe not. But I'd love to hear that.....

Fleetwood Mac admits to cocaine being around everywhere during the Rumor sessions. Its not like she took a break off in 81 from the shiit.

Once you have partied yourself, or been around people who have, its quite easy to point out people that are high!
But we don't know for sure. That must have been 1981 and I don't think her addiction was as bad then as it got by 1985.

I watch some things, like her on SNL and I think to myself, oh she is high there, but again, I don't know for sure.

I grew up with two parents who shot up heroin and usually I can tell when someone is high but something like the SNL performance seems more drug induced then her silliness on that video which she just may have had some drinks.

But we can't let that taint these precious little treasures. It was a part of the culture at that time and we can't always assume she is on something or nothing will seem special from the first 10 years of her solo career. I personally wouldn't want any Rock a Little concerts and I have a hard time watching some of her OSOTM interviews ( one interview she'll be so like up and the next she's absolutely monotone) but again, she's Stevie no matter what pills or drugs or alcohol she may have consumed....

She's better now! That's what always makes me happy.

Thank you.... I'm doing very well I've never used drugs either..... I've drank, but that's about it.

I also understand what you mean about Stevie being happy/excited, & it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with being high..... I randomly act that way sometimes, and everyone's always like, "Are you high? Have you been drinking?"..."No! Are you?!" (even though I do giggle no-stop when I'm drunk )
