Default Stone Stone Stone

What's up with him and things turning to stone on Out of the Cradle? Did he find he a rock he thought pretty, or is it actually symbolic?

Dude, I don't even know OOTC but it's all representative. Do I have to explain it here in front of everyone? See, the stone represents one of two things. Remember the Bible story of the guy turning to stone if he looked back? Bingo. He left FM to begin his rebirth (out of the cradle) and if he looked back at FM and all the sh*t associated with them, he would turn to stone. It also could represent (no, it does) him actually turning to stone, like a bitter man. Or, he found a pretty rock.

Wasn't that Lot's wife when she looked back at Gommorrah and turned into a pillar of SALT?

Oops. Right. Ok, we'll go with option B or he found a pretty rock.

Considering the number of Rolling Stones covers he recorded during the sessions for Gift of Screws maybe THAT's what he meant by "turning to stone(s)"

Surely you jest.

Is this your interpretation? - "when the candles burn down, worlds turn to stone" = "When the candle burned down and I still had not come up with any ideas for new songs, I turned to recording Stones covers." lol!

Geez guys! There's no mystery to Lindsey's use of a very cliched term. I'm sure you've all heard the phrase "turned to stone" with its automatic and embedded implications - being cold, hard, unfeeling, unchanging, lifeless, what have you. It's a common trope that should astonish no one.

Yes, but not exactly.

"when the candles burn down" = "At the end of the day"

"worlds turn to stone" = "I've got writers block...hey, ya know, I haven't listened to Between The Buttons in a while."

I'm sticking with the pretty rock theory but ok. If you want to get all technical about it. Sheesh. Chista?
