You never see Television getting any kudos for anything and it chaps my ass. They were brilliant. Their reunion in '92 blew, but that didn't erase the fabulous stuff they recorded back in the day.

I do like Television, too. I need to hear more of their stuff, though. Any album reccomendations, Diss? Dude, I just remembered another great American punk band that rarely gets any recognition: X. Everyone forgets them. -_-

I have FINALLY learned to not take these list too seriously and not allow them to offend me. It is just an opinion and not necessarily fact (which is why it is opinion, fact isn't involved.).
Also, several people have stated that CCR isn't on the list, but they are #15. Anyway, there are bands that I think should appear on this list but aren't there: Jefferson Airplane, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Byrds, Velvet Underground, and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. A good list isn't complete without these bands, IMO. I would put the Pretenders on there, if Fleetwood Mac can be on there. They may have formed in England, but they have seen most of their success here in the states. I think that Fleetwood Mac is on there, because, unfortunately, most people are only familiar with stuff from 1975-present. They probably don't know that the band was formed in England and was successful there as a blues band. Also, I think the reason that people like Elvis, Jimi Hendrix (Jimi Hendrix Experience), Janis Joplin(Big Brother and the Holding Company), and Prince (Prince and the Revolution/NPG) aren't on the list is because people think of them as individual performers not as a member of a band. Therefore, they aren't on the Greatest American Bands list. Also, can I just say that I wouldn't have the Dave Matthews Band anywhere near my list! I just don't get the greatness. I have tried to get it, and I still don't. JMO, though. ![]()

These lists are supposed to be entertaining but they're just silly.

They have a live album called Blow Up that's amazing, too. It has a 14 minute version of Little Johnny Jewel that must be heard to be believed. ![]() Quote:

I had to go, because I am required to sing the **** out of that ****. They aren't on the list because people are stupid, or, because they don't fit into that usual genre. WHich is probably good. Oh, or why did I get into the argument.Well....I've always liked punk ok, but not really. It was a semantics argument on *their side* why the ramones are great.... and me... asking why they are really different than other punk, aside from their importance in the history of punk. I didn't make any conclusions, but I just really wanted to know, exactly how they are super different, really.

Aaanywho. Most of their singles and albums, etc, did really well in the UK, Australia, etc, so I don't consider them an American band. [/Pretenders nerd]
