I didn't think my donation entitled me to anything except what was described. This event wasn't your typical appeal for donation; it was marketed to Stevie's fans nationally. People flew in from all over to attend a party that was described a certain way and then didn't get that experience.

I am happy I gave to that charity. I didn't get the write off because I just take a standard deduction, I never have enough write offs to use them instead of the standard so that didn't matter.

I'm not one of those people who runs around feeling entitled and expecting things and I resent the accusation.

On reread - I think the intent of my post came across wrong - so sorry for any confusion caused by me.

I was saying or meant to say that people like you I think got screwed a little because they advertsied it as one thing and it turned out to be another. I did not mean to imply that you or anyone else were not looking to have an in depth conv. with her, etc.

BTW - are you referring to the 98 one? Many people felt short changed by that one due to the way it was advertised.

No, I am sorry, I should have replied to a diff post. I know what you meant darling, muah. Sorry. I should have waited a bit to reply too cuz I was mad, and you should never post when you're mad.

Yes, the '98 one. You can't imagine how depressed I was after that. Actually I was elated on one hand because the whole experience was so phenomenal. But then there was that. Dammit. Actually, I want to relive some of the good parts:

* Champagne bus to the concert from the before party. That was cool. Or was it to the after party? Maybe both!

* Checking out Silver Springs Emporium and buying a signed t-shirt and a skirt once owned by Stevie.

* Meeting some members of Enchanted.

* The house at the before party was so nice and the heart healthy dinner was delicious, but small! Hehe.

* I love the landscape out there in general so driving around was gorgeous.

* When Stevie came out for Edge I was the first person she came to and she took *both* of my hands. If I had the presence of mind to say something then I guess I could have completed my goal right there! That was wonderful :tear:

* Meeting Sharon in the airport on the way to Vegas the next morning. That sure perked me up!

The funny thing is we probably met at it and just do not remember. I was in a black silk t-shirt and olive green linen pants. I did get to meet her, but many did not and that was a bad thing IMO, esp, the way it was advertised.

I personally think that chick that interviewed her on VH-1's crying uncontrollably at the table next to her as well as the few kind of freaky people trying to get up to her may have freaked her out a little and she felt uncomfortable and left - but who knows. I have so many stories about that night. One day when we meet at a concert, I'll tell ya all about it as it is best discussed over cocktails

I do have a picture of the top of Stevie's head on my fridge. That's about it for mementos from that party.

Well, I was very depressed at that time and likely did not stand out. But I was wearing and Indian (as in India) long brown embroidered dress with a black burnout velvet shawl with fringe. I have a pic but it isn't very fabulous.

Here's a pic at SSE

and the not so fab pic of me Don and Nancy.

I got special passes for one of the Staples Center SYW shows in LA a couple years ago and when I got to the show I realized there were different color stickers - some red, some green, some blue. Well at the end of the show certain colors went with certain people and my color did not get to go the meet and greet but were instead ushered upstairs to a private lounge/bar. I wa so excited because I thought this meant the band would be coming up to meet us all. Well like 45 min went by and I wondered if this was simply a bunch of BS so I decided to go back downstaris and I saw people coming out saying that they just met the band and got a photo. Then I got back in the elevator to go back upstairs to the party and I heard through one of the security guard's radio that Stevie and Lindsey had just left the building. I was crushed. When I got back up to the bar I ran up to my friend, told her Stevie wouldn't be showing up, and stormed off in tears OMG LOLOLOL. I felt like I had been waiting so long and gone through so much to have that opportunity and it was lost. I went to the bar, had a drink, and pouted for about 30 minutes. Then I heard everyone get quiet and I looked up and John and Mick walked in the door and signed autographs. Mick signed my SYW cd but honestly there is no one else I care about except Stevie!! Fortunately for me I got my chance to meet her a couple months later which you've all probably read in the meet Stevie thread so it all worked out
The point is I totally understand people's dissapointement over not being able to meet her but then again I don't think it was her fault or anybody's fault for that matter.

I'm not going just in case she wears that hideous dress to the dinner again.

JK - about the dress, that is . I really can't go, especially on this short notice. I hope whoever decides to go has a blast & takes lots of pics to share!

I think what upset fans in the past was organizers at AHI gave them the impression they'd meet Stevie. La Nicks is blameless. She attended all the after parties, but the organizers didn't have a handle on the events, except maybe in 2003. Some years they had to deal with party crashers. At a few past events, fans didn't show enough deference to keep from swarming Stevie when she was in the room. I don't blame her for leaving before meeting everyone. In 2000 there were simply too many donors. The entire cast came to the party but were separated from the crowd.

I agree with the person who said AHI is a very worth cause. Donate if you care about supporting AHI. If you're hoping to get face time with Stevie, even if AHI organizers tell you on the phone you'll be able to meet her, and that's the primary reason for donating, don't be upset if circumstances prevent it. Donate and you'll still have a great time at the show.
