and from the others you mention: missy elliot, she's really good. I find myself liking a lot of snoop dog songs too, they're really cleverly produced.

Edit.. Hmm, how did this happen? I thought I edited my first post. Uh, nevermind.

Me either but it seems that every radio station here plays it (in fact, they took off a big alternative station here Y100--and replaced it with rap). I do like Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff's Summertime and Around The Way Girl by LL Cool J. My best friends boyfriend grew up in North East Philly so it's all he listens to and when i'm around them, I get stuck listening to it too
-_- I liked Twista's Overnight Celebrity and a few Missy Elliot songs. Other than that, i'll pass.

Right - ok - if we're counting "Rapture" here then that would be my favorite

[dissention]

Well, I love all of Blondie's rap tunes.

I also love Black Eyed Peas. Does that count?

[JazmenFlowers]

anything by Eminem, 50 Cent or LL Cool J - they could SO have a piece - hehe

I own two rap albums, both of which I love:

Beastie Boys: Ill Communication
Ice-T: OG

I'm one of these people that think good rap is as close as we get to Shakespeare these days in terms of rhyme and rhythm. Of course there's a lot of crap out there too!

I need to get me some Public Enemy.

[GateandGarden]

I'm not a big rap fan in general but I can't help but love jamming to DMX's "Party Up." It's so fun! (Though the lyrics scare me!)

I also dig "Ghetto Supastar" by Pras, ODB, and Mya. It's far superior to the original "Islands in the Stream" or whatever.

I don't know but isn't it the 'popular' thing to say when you like pop/rock music, that you hate rap? As if the two are incompatible, almost. Same thing for Dance music.
I used to be a bit more distrusting of dance and rap, but when you get over that.. there's a lot of great music out there.
